so the item description says it feeds your pets forever, but also that it might mutate them? Subeta Lodge didn't have answers for me on what that mutation would be?

That's just flavor text, it won't actually mutate your pet so you're safe to use it! All it does is feed them.

It's been suggested before that the description should be changed to remove that confusing bit, so hopefully it will be at some point.
