Hiya,

Any idea why my shoutbox has said "During holidays, the Shoutbox is disabled in the sidebar. You can still use it at the full-page version here! Happy chatting!" for as long as I remember, even not during holidays? Is there a setting to make it go back to the sidebar instead of separate page?

No there is no way to make it go back to the sidebar.

It was initially moved due to lag in the early phases of all/any events.

I'm guessing that at some point someone made the decision to leave it off the sidebar because when they tried to put it back post-event things got laggy again. Or maybe it was moved back at one point when the site was having lag issues not related to events (there have been several bouts of that).
