Hello, world! I was wondering if the Rift had a specific chance system to it. I am curious if it uses any of the following: - chance based on item type - chance based on item rarity - locked chance (or whatever you call 'getting the same set percentage for each probability, no matter the conditions') - daily randomization: maybe a set of items that yeild better chances, or just a fluctuation of each probability. Any insight would be much appreciated, because I enjoy getting older items, but I also like the surprise of a new rift item!
Certain items will always give a specific rift item. For example, any? item with Pie in the name gives as the item, but I'm pretty sure it does still have a chance to give nothing in return. There's a guide here with some of those items listed in the OP but it's a bit outdated and the thread is locked
As for items that don't have a specific rift item attached to them, my best guess is that it's completely random, but that would probably require a lot of user testing that, as far as I'm aware, hasn't been done or compiled anywhere, but there are threads where people post what they tossed in and what they got in return if someone wanted to attempt to do that.
All that being said, I did look into the rift skin recently, and it seems like the chances for that do vary based on the day (and possibly time of day) that you toss an item in. As far as I could tell, the skin unlock is a random chance and some days/times just give you better odds of getting it so it's possible a similar mechanic exists for the non-skin rewards as well. I do know that I got an on its release date by tossing in and since then, I've gone back a few times to toss the same item in and haven't gotten a second one. Possibly the chances are timing based like the skin, or possibly I just got very lucky the first time and never again lol
I KNEW the pies did something! I did get some pies, but it might not always work - last time my pie was't good enough...
