We can’t put grades below 50 in the grade book. So the student who wrote that “Dow” has 8 syllables and spelled the word “loud” as “totytoyor no”, and read all the words as “cab” gets the same grade as the student who mostly spelled words correctly but had trouble reading It’s incredible HOWS YALLS JOBS GOIN
...why cant u put a grade below 50 if you fail you fail
Does ur district hav no data integrity lol H8 tht for u We r like setting them up for failure and thts gonna translate to how they approach life smh
My job is good, can’t complain 😭
i had a professor in college that would hand my essay back and id get a 70 and then hed hand back the essay of the other kid who could barely form a coherent sentence and he'd also have a 70 and i went to office hours livid bc I was like "you cannot tell me that fckn DYLAN and I wrote the same quality essay wtf" and he was like "dylan is trying his best and that was his best output. youre capable of more and aren't putting your full effort into it" I was mad but it did make me try harder
he was hot too
This is a sadly a very common thing in education, public and private. I just thought we were better than this We’d rather just stick our heads in the sand and pretend everyone is on level instead of just acknowledging that they are all at least a year behind and work with them there Like I’m l i t e r a l l y grading these kids who can’t write their own names on how they can construct opening and closing statements for essays
wait is that kid like in sped lsnt ther elike mod grading or we u ppl call it these days
No none of these kids are in sped and it’s basically impossible to get them sped services because we “overidentify minorities”
It’s sooOO bad and it’s not gonna get better And trust, many of these issues are as bad and worse in private schools
Anyway my kids are sooOOOOoOo good and sweet this year and I love them
arent there some shady things with private schools and parents paying for their kids grades
aw im glad u got a good bunch this year
Yeah parents in private schools will often throw wild fits and sue if you try to fail their kids. Which happens in public too but they have less of a leg to stand in since they aren’t paying like 50k a year
Ty Alice me too. A lot of my coworkers are not so lucky 😬
not a teacher but i'm working at an elementary school this year and it's so sad to see how behind the kids are and how many cannot read :( i have no idea how they expect teachers to handle a classroom w/ kids reading at 1-5th grade levels at the same time. our sped is integrated into classrooms which is great in theory but it can't work with the class size and range of kids needs. sigh.
