I'd report you for harassment, but censorship is sending the wrong message - if TNT deletes the post, then no one will see you calling me out in a manner that is offensive, hurtful, and quite frankly very frustrating annoying too. I stand by my beliefs that we should be kind and accepting of one another, but we shouldn't be afraid to discuss the controversy. The longer this goes on, you're just spending more time proving my point.

can someone please elaborate on sodapop’s “fried chicken” comment pls

It was me that got deleted. Basically there's a book on neo called "Watch Out! Spooks are about!" that makes reference to "nasty natives". Someone made a board a couple weeks back about it sounding bad because of the reference to "nasty natives", plus "spooks" is a racial slur against black people in some parts of the US. Sodabottle went very hard defending the book for the sake of "history" and dropping all the same arguments you hear from closet racists in the south who promote "heritage not hate" (saying that as someone who grew up in a very conservative part of the south around these kinds of people). After a few pages sodabottle posted a reply that was essentially about them going to eat some fried chicken and "take that as you will ;)"

Yeah the wording in the description there should be changed, but the use of the term “spook” is probably just to refer to a ghost or generic creepything. (Plus, the early Adam-and-Donna team were based in the UK and likely wouldn’t have had much reference or exposure to American slurs). Point is I wouldn’t worry too much about it, not like neopets is bound to stay afloat for much longer anyway

I never really saw soda as being especially sus from my experience with them but I have no idea why they chose to double down on this so hard, especially for something so minute. Defending outdated and offensive text as “a part of history” is one thing and then there’s just making tasteless statements like that.

yea I don't think anyone genuinely thought adam and donna meant it that way, we were just talking that the "nasty natives" thing didn't really age well and "spooks" just made it worse, intentional or not. people were suggesting it should be changed (especially since a couple people chimed in that it did make them uncomfortable) and that's when sodabottle showed up

same, it was dropped so casually, and of course TNT did nothing about it as usual

To be honest, TNT can barely muster up the effort to FIX THE SITE and listen to user feedback
