Currently my favorite "bands" are ICP and They Might Be Giants. I got into ICP from when "My Axe" got really popular on tiktok and ive been really into all of their music since (my favorite album is Riddle Box). I got into TMBG when i was very young and haven't been able to shake it (not like i want to lol). haven't listened to all of their stuff yet but plenty! (favorite album is Lincoln)
TWRP and Protomen. TWRP I found through a song they did with NSP, and Protomen I found because they opened for TWRP at a show I went to. Very small bands, especially Protomen, but the most amazing vibe at their concerts I’ve ever experienced because the fans are few but love the bands so much.

I love anything and everything from Portugal. The Man. Two of the main members are from Alaska, and so am I. My family has been following them for a long time, and I'm glad that they grew in popularity. I was fortunate enough to finally see them in concert this past fall.

Mew: my favorite band right now is Animal Collective and I think I found out about them through a weird music playlist? from there I ended up listening to a few albums and ended up really loving them XD

As a person who was a teenager in the mid 00's my favorite bands are still My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy. They got me then and honestly they still get me. I'd go all out for them anytime. And have multiple times over. They're the bands I camp out all night in line for to get barricade. I got into both of them from a friend in middle school. I had a Green Day notebook having just discovered them during their American Idiot era...and at my school that scene wasn't all that popular yet. But the girl sitting behind me in my first period class noticed and we started talking and she introduced me to Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, and all the rest in that vein. The rest, as they say, is history. Within a year my 13/14 year old self was going to all the concerts I could, convincing my mom to let me take a train to the city alone where my brother would meet me and walk me to the venue then come get me after. When My Chemical Romance announced their new tour I bought tickets SO fast. Still can't wait for that tour to actually happen.
Bastille I first heard them in an AMV on YouTube haha but I didn't grow to like them until later
mewithoutyou is definitely one that comes to mind- their songs "c minor" and "the sun and the moon" are the ones that got me into them. they're going on their farewell tour this year and stopping in my city and i'm def going to see them again even though i saw them for a 15 year album tour in dec last year up in dc :3 as of right now the song i feel will always be my fave of theirs is "the angel of death came to david's room"!
also not a band but st. vincent is way up there. i got the pleasure of seeing her in concert a couple years ago and i wish she'd go back on tour around my area. the first song of hers i heard was "the party" and back then i wasn't too into her music but i had/have a big crush on her so when she came to town i bought tickets and ever since i've loved her music. "prince johnny" is my favorite song of hers.
favorite bands are probably the mountain goats and the paper chase.
got into the paper chase in the late 00s via last.fm (which i no longer use but kinda wanna pick back up to break up the monopoly of spotify). got into the mountain goats bc a friend/mutual on tumblr was very into them and then they put out an album about wrestling in 2015 and i Had to get into them haha. saw them live in 2017!!
banner by My fave artists atm are Machinae Supremacy and Starcadian!
I first discovered Machinae Supremacy when I watched a Bleach AMV as a kid and heard their track "Edge and Pearl" (which is still an absolute banger to this day). been following them ever since and hoping for a new album :) My favorite album by them is their 2016 album Into The Night World, my favorite track being "The Last March of the Undead".
Starcadian... I have no idea when exactly I started listening to them, but I was on a huge synthwave kick (it never stopped tbh) and just kinda stumbled across them. Their music is just entirely vibes. Favorite album is Radio Galaxy, with fave track being "Gutter".

I have no idea why but all of a sudden I got really hooked on a band called Pinback while listening to indie radio on Pandora back in highschool. Since then i've been on a years long search getting into any and all projects Rob Crow has been in and his solo work. Heavy Vegetable, Thingy, The Ladies, and more. PLOSIVS is his current band. Some other favs are Red Vox and Scythelord.

ghost and queensryche are my top two favorites. both mean a lot to me personally, both for different reasons.
mother got me into queensryche as she was/is a big metal head in the 80s esp. i heard ghost by chance on the radio three-fourish years ago and WHOOPS I'm obsessed. been to two and a half rituals so far and I'm gearing up for the third for Impera. m/
The [New Orleans] Radiators has been a big fave of mine ever since. I once listened to one of their songs in my dad's car years ago and I've been stuck to them ever since. I always say I really got into them because their music took part in major changes in my life that were mainly positive.
KMFDM I got into because of one of my artist friends. They're really cool and I gotta thank them for getting me into a very interesting band.
Puscifer, TOOL, Pearl Jam, and perhaps a few others are purely because of my mother.
Widespread Panic. I've been to multiple of their concerts, and, believe it or not, my name comes from one of their songs, "Little Lily"!
Rammenstein.. it actually came from a very old pre-Friendship is Magic My Little Pony amv with one of their songs, "Tier", which is still my favorite.
I have several favorites and it all boils down to when I found them and all of them has usually been for the lyrics and the energy they gave me at that time.
Darkest hour, Blue Stahli, Enter Shikari, Bloodywood.
It's hard to just pick one favorite when I find aspects of a lot of bands that I love and they become a favorite because of that.

Big fan of HIM since I was probably 11 or 12, entirely because I was watching music videos on Comcast On Demand and Killing Loneliness was on there, and I thought the man was beautiful. Just so happened I enjoyed the rest of that album, and then the rest of them I found as well. Nothing all that good since Venus Doom, sadly.
Breaking Benjamin, just because my husband loves them and I was like wow, great taste.
Fall Out Boy because cmon, who doesn't love them?
