As the title says - I think it would be quite helpful to be able to see the original slot price of custom wearables via the directory. This would especially benefit people who are new to CWs/Subeta, and older users who have come back from a long break. By knowing the original price, one would have some idea of what might be fair for reselling/buying/trading, or at least it would provide a base on which to make an estimate. :) (Especially because you aren't always guaranteed an answer in the CW pricing thread!)
Please let me know if there's some obvious place to find this information already lol
highly support this.
- Weren't most items 700 csc base slot though? I don't recall many that slotted for anything above that. Currently the directory allows us to see how many copies of an item sold which can also determine price. 10 copies was standard under the old cw system.
I personally don't remember how the old system worked, and I wasn't around when we switched to the new system lol 😅 So I 100% trust you! And is that information already available somewhere?
I'm less concerned for CWs that slotted for over 700, and more concerned with CWs that slotted for less. There's already an obvious difference in value between CWs that slotted for 350 vs. 500 vs. 700 etc. and as far as I know, there's currently no way to find out that information besides asking around (unless the item is still in stock).
But then in addition to that, the amount of copies on site is (unfortunately) only partially relevant. Many items just happen to be more popular than others (which is another thing that is near impossible to know if you're new/returning), or its always possible that a handful of copies are on inactive/frozen accounts. For example, two items could both have 20 copies onsite, but have drastically different OG slot prices, popularity, age, and copies in circulation vs. copies that are essentially gone forever on inactive accounts.
As long as creators are given the freedom of choosing price, available copies, and the option to permanently retire items, there's always going to be disparity among CW value. I love CWs and I think they've been a crucial addition to the site, but it seems like an idea that was doomed to have a flawed economy from day one. Maybe I am an outlier here, I have no idea ^^;;;
All that being said, it would be convenient to be able to look up a base number and go from there, rather than taking a wild guess or praying someone knowledgeable about that particular item replies to you on the pricing thread. Not to mention that I'm sure some people don't want to socialize and would just like to be able to resell their CWs in their shop!
(It's very late, I'm sorry if my rambling is incoherent lol)
I can see how this could be useful, but I'm not sure if it's possible since the slot price is entirely up to the users and sometimes changes/varies? On the original "submit a batch of 10 copies of an item" system, all items essentially had a base price of 500 CSC each, so the "standard" slot price was typically 600-700 CSC, but slotting was done on the forums so there may not be a way to go back and figure out what "slot price" was for a specific item anymore. Even if there's a record of what the prices were listed as when you submitted the item, artist copies (or gifted copies) would cost 0 and the releaser may or may not have to pay part of the submission costs, so the numbers on the form itself could differ. Obviously if 7 out of 10 users paid 600 for an item, 600 was probably the slot cost, but I'm not sure how feasible it is to program something to parse that, assuming there is a record of it.
I don't. really remember the submission process from when the pricing scheme first changed. I want to say it was roughly the same, except batches became 5 copies instead of automatically 10? So you could run into the same problems where slot prices could vary and be hard to figure out from behind the scenes. I guess for items that were placed in the cash shop though, they could list the most recent slot price and that would probably be pretty accurate
