i hate this game with a burning passion because i just don't understand it. a guide on how to play would be amazing so i can do it when drill asks lmao.
The key is the dots on the right side. If one lights up grey, then you have a correct color in the correct placement. A yellow dot means you have a correct color, but it's in the wrong spot.
I like to go by color, and select four grey, then four yellow, then four red and so on, so I can know which colors are in the solution. Once I know I have, say, one grey, two yellow, and a green, it's just a matter of shuffling them around till they're in the right placements.
There's a How to Play link at the top of the game page :) It opens in kind of a pop-up window, so I can't link the page directly, but here's the text from it in case you can't open it for some reason:
SPOILER (click to toggle)
This ancient and mysterious mechanism seems to have survived amidst the crumbling temple ruins, still alive for whatever function it meant to serve. Archaeologists and linguists speculate, based on the carved script in the chamber, that this chamber was meant to test for those with the power of divination.
Mosaic discs in six colors litter the floor of the chamber, four of which can be placed in a row in an attempt to figure out the correct pattern. After a row is complete, the gems to the right illuminate to provide feedback: a blue glow indicates that a disc of the correct color is in the correct position, a yellow glow indicates that a disc of the correct color is in the wrong position, and an unlit gem indicates that a disc of an incorrect color has been placed.
The gems do not give away which specific discs they're responding to, but each new row gives the puzzled viewer another chance to crack the existing code based on what they've learned. After ten unsuccessful tries, the panel shudders, sheds the discs and goes dark, resetting the code and forcing the visitor to begin anew. Essentially, you need to find a 4-disc pattern to win. The blue/yellow dots will tell you how many discs you have correct, but not which ones. I always start with 4 of the same color until I've narrowed it down enough to know which colors are used (either until I get 4 blue dots total or until I've done all but one color) and then start guessing patterns
thank you both so much! and apparently i somehow missed the how to play link lmao.
Yo, I'm a bit iffy about the methods suggested above, so this is what I do:
1: 4 greys: now I know there's 1 grey somewhere
2: 1 grey, 3 reds: now I know there's 1 grey & 1 red. They're both wrong, so red is definitely in spot 1.
3: 1 red (correct).1 grey (wrong, as it can't be right and have 1 yellow be wrong, so it must be spot 3 or 4), 1 yellow (spot 3 or 4)
4: 1 red (correct).1 green (spot 2 must be purple), 1 yellow (correct, good guess), 1 grey (correct)
5: Ta dah!
Let me know if you have any questions. It's much more efficient than trying 4 of each colour and then trying combinations. c:
I do what does. I start by choosing all four of the first color. Then I work down each color successively. Once you get the hang of it, it will get really easy, but it can be kind of difficult to explain, so feel free to message me and I can send a ton more words. :)
