Hello !
Six months ago, we released the new Custom Wearable system! It's been a really wild ride, from the months of planning, writing, and coding, to the over 6,000 accepted CWs that have been added since the system relaunch. I've been so excited and happy to be a part of it, and every day you guys make me happy I came back to my job here at Subeta to work with you!
Now that we've reached the 6-month mark, I wanted to check in and see how everything is going -- so I've made a little survey I'd love for you to fill out! Leaving your user name is completely optional, and you do not need to be logged into Google or anything like that to complete the survey. I'll leave it up until next Wednesday, June 23rd. Please take this opportunity to share your feedback and help us decide what CW project we will work on next!
We're on fire with these releases! Thank you Jessi for everything!
Thank you and all staff for your hard work!
Answered :) I'm overall pretty happy with the whole new system and with communication from you (you're really rocking on keeping us in the loop and updated on what's going on and I really am very glad you came back to us).
Filled this our earlier when I had some time. Just wanted to say I agree with and I'm really glad you're back . I'm so happy to see you so passionate about our community and really helping us thrive. :)
Excited to see what the future holds and I hope the survey gives staff some really good ideas and suggestions!
Thank you to all of you who took the time to fill out the survey! I've compiled all the data, and I wanted to share it with you as well as go over a few things and I are planning based off the results :)
All results below, comments/info below spoiler tag!
I find the new submissions system much easier than the previous system

I enjoy not having to worry about filling batches Strongly Agree: 86% Agree: 8% Neutral: 4% Disagree: 2%
There is a good variety of categories for me to pick from for my items Strongly Agree: 57% Agree: 33% Neutral: 6% Disagree: 2% Other: 2%
Having the custom wearable queue on a schedule is: (Note: This one was multiple choice so the percentages do not add up to 100%. It is just the percentage of people that answered each choice) Convenient: 60% Slow: 2% Well balanced: 58% Frustrating: 0% Other: 17%
If you could add one additional category, what would it be and why? Top three requests: : Purses : Sleeves : Skins (Note: A few people suggested new wardrobe layers, rather than new CW categories! These are great as well and I’m passing them along to the appropriate people, but I’m focusing on CWs here)
If you could pick one new feature to be added to custom wearables, what would it be and why? Top three requests: : Ability to upload multiple skintones : Categories for the warehouse ) Search filter updates
Thanks to the results of the survey, we've been able to make some plans for the future.
NEW FEATURES TO COME: . An easier, and cheaper way to submit things with multiple skintones! This is the first new area Bug and I will be concentrating on. I do not have an exact ETA, because it is going to require some new coding. Once it's implemented, you'll be able to add multiple skintones to one custom wearable submission for a very reduced price. Just a few things I did want to clarify about this as we work to implement it: • This will be for SKINTONES ONLY. It will not be for submitting multiple recolors of the clothing itself. The clothing will need to remain 100% the same with only the skintones changing • We will not be offering any refunds on custom wearables currently submitted as multiple submissions with different skintones. If you choose to keep submitting them as-is currently, you are doing so knowing we will not be refunding the difference (similar to submitting items prior to the CW revamp)
: Categories in the warehouse This one is a bit harder. As of right now, your shop categories do appear in the warehouse, so you do have this limited organization at this time - but we certainly understand the want for something else! We are currently brainstorming ways to make this happen and are bouncing many ideas off of each other. We do hope to have something in the not-too-distant future to help with this!
: More search options (including searching by warehoused/capped, wishlist, etc) This is definitely on our to-do list!
-- Additional categories: Note: A few people suggested new wardrobe layers, rather than new CW categories! These are great as well and I’m passing them along to the appropriate people, but I’m focusing on CWs here!
FINALLY! As one quick note, I wanted to talk about the custom wearable schedule. Most of the responses on it were quite positive, which is wonderful, but there were a couple of responses talking about the long wait if you submit something after I've already done the queue, or how sometimes the schedule has to change; there was also a suggestion that not having any schedule at all is better than having a schedule that cannot be stuck to.
In the spirit of transparency, I did want to address this. I've been trying not to interrupt the schedule too often. I definitely have priorities over my work on Subeta: my full time job at the clinic, medical/other appointments, and my own personal health. I'm pretty sure I've announced every time I've had to shift the schedule. The thing that I really want to stress is: I cannot let myself get burned out. I did custom wearables for many years and ended up quitting in September '19 for a year or so. It's because I was just burnt out. I felt like I had to come home from working 12+ hours and then work again because people expected the queue to be done every day (or every other day). It was making me feel resentful of not just custom wearables, but of Subeta in general. In fact, that near-year I was gone, I didn't even play Subeta for fun much. I just took a long break.
Again, thanks so much for taking the time to fill out the survey! It provided great feedback for and I, and we have exciting things in the works!
First of all AHHHH I AM SO EXCITED And second of all: Will the skin tones update also apply to things like ears? Or JUST to pieces with clothing attached like reposes? (As far as you know, at this time, if you have an idea yet.)
UHHH that's a good question. Originally it was just to apply to pieces of clothing with reposes, but I kind of forgot like. Ears are a thing. So we could definitely make it work for that, I think!
First of all, thank you for taking the time to ask for and then compile this feedback! I absolutely love all the work and love put into the CW system in the last year and am stoked to see more improvements to come.
Secondly: yay for cheaper/easier skintone recolors! I love body mod items and I hope this will encourage even more creative uses for them.
Thirdly: I just want to say that I've been very satisfied with the queue schedule, even when you've had to make adjustments due to life. IDK but it has felt very efficient and less anxiety inducing on my end knowing what to expect? And if it helps keep you from burning out, that's the most important thing since your work is invaluable to the site/CW makers!
Niceee. I don't have many brain cells right now except for pure excitement so just know I'm grinning over here :) hehe
Cool! Honestly I didn't actually fill out this survey since the questions seemed to be in spirit of comparing to the old system, which I have no knowledge about. I started submitting when the new system came out and I find it very streamlined and easy for a first-timer.
That being said I think the queue schedule is very reliable and reasonable given the basic fact that you have a life outside of subeta. I am a big fan of schedules and knowing when to expect something.
Looking forward to seeing how the skin tone system works!
sdljfhadghEFKLDAGHG YAY these are all wonderful things to hear!!
please stick to whatever schedule works for you, you have to set boundaries for yourself ;u; even with occasional blips, it's nice to know when things will be processed.
i understand the excitement to get your new things on site, but two times a week is quite enough! anything more would be a bit overkill for the volume of uploads and the (1 person) workforce. most staff members have another full time job...please keep that in mind.
What about items that are nothing but the skin tone? I'm thinking, specifically, of the ape repellents I had Emyon make so I could make avatars like the one I'm using today!
I suspect I need to submit them separately anyway, since they have numbers on the CIs, but I thought I'd ask; at one point, Emyon and I were considering making a companion item to get rid of the under-round-ear shading some short hair CWs have--though the ape repellent already works very well for long wigs without round cutouts, and sidecuts/side shaves, which were one of the main things I wanted it for.
Thanks in advance!

Something like that really seems like it falls more under makeup or skins than what this is intending to be used for -- which is mostly aimed at CWs that reposition limbs where people want them in all the skin colors.
Gotcha. I did submit them as makeup. They're not big enough to be skins. They're just swathes of shading that cover the ear lines on the avatar base, so that when you put cat or rabbit or mouse or wolf ears on, you don't have 2 sets of ears from 2 different species. TY!

Bless you, I'm so happy the reduced price skintones recolors are finally in sight! This has been a long time waiting, I'm so excited! I'm sure this applies to bases 1-10, and probably to bases 11-18, but will it apply to zapper skin and zombie skin recolors too (if people start releasing recolors with those)? Sorry for the off-the-wall question, it's just that Feral's new facewipes have renewed my love of zombie and zapper skins.
Firstly I'm sooooo excited for the planned things to come! Secondly, thank you so much for asking us how we're feeling about things so far and giving us an opportunity to help suggest things we might be able to use better etc ❤️ I really appreciate how open and communicative you've made sure to make this whole section of the site since being back.
Thirdly: I love schedules. I love knowing that, barring an emergency or a notice from you, I can reasonably expect that on Sundays and Wednesdays the queue will be gone through and that means I can check in those evenings to update SubetaLodge. I'm pretty positive you've actually notified us every time in advance if you were having a schedule change or going to have a wonky schedule situation which is super cool and also I feel a bit in the above and beyond category. I am so happy you set a schedule that will hopefully combat burnout and keep you wanting to be here and very very grateful honestly that we have a decently short wait all told (it's like...max 3-4 days between queue times so it's really nothing at all in the grand scheme). I know folks get really excited to get their items in so I'm hoping it's just some misplaced excitements/frustrations that are leading them to complain about any changes to the schedule and not entitlement to your time because that's hooey. Also I hope they start to remember that this isn't your primary job but you're still giving us a lot of your time and energy and that they appreciate how active and responsive you are, because I sure do!
((Also I hope you're continuing to find ways to stay cool!))
It will not apply to any zapper skins, zombie skins, etc. It will be for the default skin options only.
it has cooled down significantly! Today the high was 79 which is like a night and day difference from 110, haha! The windows are open, there's a cool breeze coming through... it's pretty great. And the hottest projected for the next 10 days here is 81. so I think we're in the clear for now.
