As a Canadian Algonquin, I'm sure most of you are aware of our past, and even the current news about stuff happening here. I won't go into details because it's really horrifying and not what this post is about, but if you're curious, I'm always down to educate, or it's pretty easy to Google, honestly. ANYWAYS.

My whole life I grew up being a native in a big city in Ontario with little to no representation for anything involving my culture except for shoddy "chieftain" or "Pocahontas" Halloween costumes (don't.. don't wear them, btw. haha).

And I found out this site, that not only is there actually a native doll item that almost looks identical to one I played with as a kid that I found at a flea market.. It actually says 'Algonquin'. And the description is so perfect and I'm just..

I'm crying. I'm actually crying so hard.

I never thought in a million years I would see myself represented so hard in such a cute little item on an avatar site, complete with our ACTUAL name (I see "native american something" everywhere and it's meh at best). And I'm just.. I'm flabbergasted. I have no other descriptors. It even says deerskin dress! It's so heartwarming and thoughtful.

Child me would be losing her mind right now, and I'm just.. I dunno, the hope and the love and maybe it's because I've been really emotional about stuff regarding my/our history recently, but oh my GOD.

Whoever did this, whoever OK'd this and made this item, and revamped it.. Thank you. Thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I genuinely didn't think an avatar site would make me cry so much today. <3 I am overwhelmed with happiness right now.
