I'm curious about the upcoming holidays/ events listed in the news post (Neugarten, Free Shop, Questathon). Is there somewhere I can find more info about them? Or would someone mind explaining what happens during them?

Questathon also gave out the first avatar borders last time, If everyone together hits a certain amount of quests, you get a prize if you've done at least one quest.

In past years, the free shop has had a lot of Melody items in it, but it's also been around Christmas time. There's also CSC and some good stuff. It's basically just a big giveaway.

there's a subetapedia page for the holiday schedule that gives a brief overview of each. some holidays have their own more detailed pages, but only a few.

neuegarten is a summer holiday that opens up themed shops where you can buy items for sP. (not the food trucks, those were introduced as part of the old one-time peka-boo event and then brought back for another summer event a few years later, but we have been told they will also come back this summer.)

it used to be called alegarten and took place in the fall; it was basically subeta's version of oktoberfest, with beer and other alcohol-related items, german-themed foods and clothes, etc. then it got moved to summer (because there were no summer holidays and a LOT of spring/fall holidays) and rebranded as neuegarten, focusing on vegan & vegetarian items, sustainable living, local produce, etc. rumi's vegan life and shanti's sustainables are a couple examples of the sort of items on offer.

as others have mentioned, the free shop is a shop where everything is, well, free. but it only opens for a few days when staff feel like it; sometimes to celebrate something or thank the userbase, sometimes to apologize for technical issues with the site, etc. every item is a mystery, so you don't know what you get until you click it, and there's a wait time between each item you can take (i wanna say 30 minutes? maybe? i can't remember). the items can range from basic stuff to items that have become extremely expensive and difficult to obtain.

the quest-a-thon is an event where the userbase as a whole is given a goal of quests to complete. if we reach the goal (which we always have, though there was one year we almost didn't make it and a one-day extension was provided due to technical issues) everyone who participated gets a free additional pet slot, as well as some other prizes that in the past have included items and avatar borders (those decorative rings you may have seen around some users' avatar headshots).
