I didn't know elixirs would change my pet's species. Based on the item's description: "Are you so picky that you want a -darker- shade of blue on a typically blue dinosaur?," I thought using it would simply change my pet's colour to a darker shade of blue. I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS LITERAL. LIKE A LITERAL DINOSAUR. (For context, I looked up the item, Dusk Mortiking Elixir, in the Item Directory after all this mess).
As a new player, I was unfamiliar with the difference between Potions and Elixirs. I had another elixir in my Inventory, which I used in hopes it would turn into a cuter species. It turned into a green flying insect (Field Illumis).
At that point, I still didn't know elixirs well except that they change the pet's species. I panicked and just bought a random elixir on the Search Shops. It became an orange Manchu, which, now looking back, isn't as bad as I thought. Can be considered cute. But no. Now I wanted my original pet species back.
Found the species name in SubetaPedia's Species Information, Keeto. Bought a Field Keeto Elixir for ~50k. Found out I dislike the colour. Went back to my pet's original colour. Bought the Common Keeto Elixir for ~70k. Now things are back to normal.
But why? Why is the Common Keeto Elixir more expensive than a colored one? It's a good thing that sP is easy to come by, but still

Wow, what a wild ride you've gone through! I've been playing the game only as long as you have, but I have experience with other pet sites and their colour + species change items, so I know not to touch elixirs (unless they happen to match the species of my pet, of course).
On the bright side, it's good that you found out now with an easily-recoverable species than later on with something limited. That would've been far worse!
:dmg:light: Please ping me. :dmg:light:Oh dear. Glad you finally got it straightened out.
Watch out for the glade water. If you want your pet to turn Glade color, and you use glade water in any container other than an Ornate Floral pitcher, you'll get a weird camel-thing experiment instead... I learned that the hard way when I was a new here. I laugh about it now, but at the time I was horrified.
...and then, of course, there's the zapper. That's just full of surprises.
Luckily there's lots of folks here who love to help, so if you ever have any questions about what stuff does in the future, don't hesitate to ask. :)
