Is there a use for Coda Caves Crystals?

I've gotten a few of these from the Coda Caves but I have no idea what to do with them. Is there a use for them or are they just trinkets to give to pets?

They are needed if you want to give a Pet the Galactic color. You need a full set of the Crystals for that.
