Drown me in your creative flow.
Got a pet OC that you adore, and you just need to share and be heard? Got plans for a new pet when you get the space or the funds? Talk to me about them.
(holds up Capital)
This is my favorite and probably my most important (to myself, at least) OC. They're the void between universes become sentient, and though at first they wandered the multiverse with awe and curiosity, quickly they became bored of it all and began messing with reality for their own amusement.
They are, by all accounts, a villain and not a good being, but I've been working on their story for nearing 6 years and they've helped me create a lot more ocs and narratives that I love, and they're special to me because of that. (': They're the character I draw most and the one I use to try new things out, and the first character I've animated too. Despite being an nigh-irredeemable asshole, they mean so much to me. c':
(plus, after a Lot has happened, they turn a new leaf and become... nice. they're still a trickster by nature by at least they're now protecting people instead of ruining their lives)
I could gush about so many other of my pets, and maybe I'll come back and talk about others like Anwell, but I always love talking about Capital the most. So glad I caught them off the pound so many years ago.
(and yes, my avatar as of writing this is this oc, too)
I adore Capital, they're so antihero. Also, daaaang, that profile for them. I'm envious. It's so organic and flow-y. And the custom overlay is gorge.
It's amazing you animated them. And that they've been with you so long. That's love.
I'd love to read more. Wonder what someone between the universes thinks. We (my plebeian brothers and I) must look awful silly to someone with an omniscient opinion. I'm a huge fan of assholes, btw, not going to lie. The irredeemable, even. Somehow, it makes them so real and relatable.
Definitely come back, feel free to share anytime. I just couldn't find a thread like this one, where you could just gush.
Ahhh thank you so much!! ; u; Those things are always so nice to hear. I'm happy that people find Capital likeable/interesting, I know overpowered ocs are a bit of a touchy subject for some, so I'm happy most people seem to like them as they are! And thank you, I worked so hard on that profile and that overlay :"D I was thinking of making that pet profile available to others, I can keep you in mind if you're interested.
Ahh yeah! I studied animation for a few years, so they were the test subject for many excercises I had to do.
Aw thank you! C: I was writing a short story featuring them, my pet Wherever and one of my s/o's OCs. I do wanna work on their profile and write a story for it as well... who knows? Hopefully I'll get my braincells together to do that soon. And yeeeah, I love asshole OCs too. There's something just so fun about writing someone that just doesn't care anymore. Villains, antagonists, and bastards in generals can be so compelling :"D
Hehe, I probably will when I have a bit more time! But hey, the thread's yours. Why not talk about one of your ocs now?
What is this time you speak of? /rip. If you release a public version of the profile, definitely, I'd love a ping.
I confess, I have a really big soft spot in my heart for god-like OCs. I raise you my story-breaker [pet not found]. A godling, they're a scythe-wielding harbinger of winter with zero remaining social skills.
About five years back, I found a strong translation of the Gaelic poem Am Bodach-Rocais (The Scarecrow), and they fell in love with it. Since they favor their feminine identity, I absently recommended that she call herself Cailleach-Rocais, with "cailleach" meaning "old woman" as opposed to "bodach" meaning "old man". So… now the rest of my OCs draw straws to figure out who has to blast the crazy crone out of random corn fields. I get the impression she's just out there scaring-off hapless farmers, stomping around like a damn t-rex on fire and demanding companionship in her off season.
And omg, yes, I love bad guys. And antiheros. They're so fun to write, and I love hearing about them. Able to make any progress on your short story for Wherever? I've uh, managed to do nothing creative between now and... (checks) two days ago. About right for a Wednesday Thursday.
Bellegarde My most beloved/precious OC. He even had a story once, but I lost it, or just deleted it and don't find his old profile document... So, no story for my quirky vampire duke. ^^
Also throwing in Anonymous and this one/Kyle :D
Dangles my stupid farmboy Julios
Half of his stupidity was honestly me just struggling through the first few seasons of Stardew Valley but then he inexplicably grew on me as his own character. I like to imagine half the town looking on in concern as this sad sad man struggles to farm and ends up with too many parsnips. My friend has an equally ill-equipped farmer and we like to joke that they're neighbors getting up to their stupid farm shenanigans (someone please help them).
He's a low-key comfort character at this point and a nice soft reminder to myself for rougher times that things can and will get better, so I have an inordinate amount of affection for him.
I've also got Folklores who is absolutely not finished (on here; I'm chipping away at it slowly). But basically I saw a post on Tumblr about following cats through liminal spaces and it's stuck on me ever since.
Kane is super important to me because he started out as an Umbreon attached to my trainer OC Riley, who I had used in my first ever OCT and made a lot of really cool friends from. So essentially they were the first set of OCs I really did any heavy development on. I've since transplanted them into primarily an urban fantasy setting where most of my characters live now, so Kane went from Umbreon to cat, and then because I couldn't see Riley having any sort of real conscious magic, from cat to cat-masquerader. Riley is a normal boy except for his very passive ability to find and slip through to those liminal spaces too easily, so he had a real cat at first as a guide, but real cats can be real fickle sometimes and so that first cat ended up wandering off. And thus Kane, the demon in the hedgerow, was like "fine I suppose I'll do the job if I get rewarded with chicken."
And then it ended up snowballing from there because turns out you can plant the seeds of affection starting with a few pieces of chicken on a saucer placed by the hedges and so now Kane spends most of his days masquerading as a cat because he doesn't want his boy to be sad about not having a cat. If he were a real cat he'd be pushing 15, but he's still totally chipper and in perfect health. No one questions it (except the vet, but that's because his magic lets him trace origins and so he locked onto how Kane was not a real cat at their first visit. He's one of the best patients though since he's so mild-mannered on all his well-kitty visits). This massive transition was also when I had a magic system and character chart hyperfixation so I could gush about them all forever haha. I remember spending at least 2 days making a massive character web for them all.
Masashi [pet not found]
All my pets are ocs, but most are under progress </3
Nice idea for a topic.
My most love OC is Jamie. I made him shortly after I started to play Ark. He used to have the name Collin at that time but cause I never got that name (when names till were unique) I switched his name to Jamie, a name I had sitting on my account unused. In the end it was the best decission ever, cause the name fits him way better and i started to do a lot of art for him after I did that. I even started to write down his story, added my own ideas to the Ark universe and change a lot of it, so it now has only some base ideas of it left.
A lot of love and heart went and still go into Jamie and it is still a long way to get his whole story writen down. He goes along with my second favorite character Santiago who is not really an OC but also not an pur fancharacter, cause I added a lot of personality and BG to him duo lack of it in Ark.
More can be found on is profile, cause putting all down here would be way to much but here the newest picture I did of him:
