It looks like you might have recently come back! You can actually name your pets anything you want now! The original pets named a specific name first are now considered legacy. For example, I can have a pet named Zeus and you can too! There are no longer unique names!

I suppose then what makes names special is if the legacy matches the current name?

Some people like the legacy to match the name. Others like to use it as a sort of nickname or incorporate it into the pet's story somehow. Still others just hide it completely.

But yeah, usually when a pet with a legacy name is UFA they will match so that a person really knows what they're getting (but finding one in the pound is much more random).
