I'm soon to be in the market for a new car, since I finally got a good job that I like that pays decently enough. I want to get a small suv. Something 4WD/AWD would be amazing because I live in Michigan and we get some pretty bitchy winters lol. It's not a necessity though, really. I've been doing some research and I've narrowed it down to five choices.

The Honda HR-V 4WD is my favorite right now. I love how the door handle is styled on the rear doors. I love the whole look of it.

The Ford Ecosport was my first choice before because I've always driven a Ford and my dad retired from Ford. But I'm not reading the best reviews on it and it's not on any top lists. I really like the smaller size of it though.

The Kia Soul is cool, but it seems lower to the ground with smaller tires, which is something I want to get away from. But Kia's warranty is the best at 10 years/100k miles.

I like the Nissan Kicks, but it also seems lower to the ground/more car-like.

The Jeep Renegade is just badass. I would kill to have a Jeep, lol. It also comes in a sick blue color that I really like.

I drive a Ford Fiesta right now. It's lovely, but it's very small and is bright green. I loved the bright green for the years I've had it, but I'm kind of tired of the color. I also definitely want something bigger. It's really nice that it's paid off, but it's a 2011 and I want to get something new while I can still get something decent for it. I'm not sure what's more important to me...looks or gas mileage or warranty/service or what. I'm awful with decisions and this is an important one. All of these brands have similar deals going right now. I've never had a brand new car that was mine before (used to drive my parents' leased cars) so I want to buy it right out and not lease. I've bought a used car on my own before, but never a new one, although I've sat in when my parents bought theirs, so it's not like I have zero experience.

What would you choose? Do you drive one of these and do you like/hate it? Any tips on car buying?

[edit] Was wandering around at a Hyundai dealership this past Sunday and fell in love with the Hyundai Venue. I think that might be what I'm going for.

Old car, but it's a 2003 Ford Mustang. Gets me where I need to go and haven't had any major problems so far! I've had pretty good experience with Fords in general. Though I am a sucker for Jeeps, too. Would love to get a new model someday!

I have a 2016 Honda Fit so I’m more biased toward Asian brand cars, mostly because that’s what my family has always gravitated toward, and maintenance wise they seem pretty non high maintenance.

I.E I learned to drive on my parents’ old 1996 Camry, and my older brother’s first car was a white 2001 Camry. Both cars were eventually sold by my parents at some point. He owns a 2014 Hyundai Tucson currently. I had a red Corolla for a year in 2014, but then didn’t take it with me when I moved to the east coast for grad school in 2015, and my parents sold it to my brother’s then girlfriend.

Car wise just because I’m biased I’d say Honda HR-V but I’ve never personally owned one. When I was in Buffalo for grad school, most of the friends I had who drove big cars either drove Honda HR-Vs, Pilots, or Subarus and, they all loved their cars though.

I’d say jeep too but that’s purely aesthetic, in high school my dream cars were the Mitsubishi Eclipse and Jeep just because I liked the look of them, lol. I’ve never owned either type of car though.

I drive a 2011 Dodge Caliber, but have never owned a car. I drive the car owned by my now deceased mother, so at this time I'm unsure of it's ownership status, partly since it was still undergoing payment when she died. I'm somewhat mechanically inclined, and the maintenance and light duty repairs have been doable.

I'm a little ambitious when it come to any future cars/trucks. Some include a 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner, a Subaru Impreza, and a 2019 Ram 1500 Crew Cab Rebel.

Don't get me started on Jeeps, lemme put it this way...Who built the lunar rovers?

Old, and obsolete.

My hubby and I share a 2006 (I believe) Chevy Impala. It's bluish in color, kinda grayish blue. Very pretty car! We love it! And the best part is it cost us nothing. My MIL bought it for us from a friend! We have had it for over a year now, and it's served us well.

My last car was a 2016 Chevy Cruze LT and I loved that thing so much. I had to sell it when I moved, but it was probably the best car I have ever owned.
