I'm getting a little more money coming in each month now so I want to upgrade my current subscription from Quester to Councilor (I always need more CSC).
I don't think there's a way to directly upgrade yet, or at least I can't find an option and have a vague memory of it being promised in the future.
Going to cancel my current subscription tells me that I won't be able to buy another one until the current one would have expired, apparently? That's on the 19th, so really the only way to go about it is to wait until the 18th, cancel Quester, then wait until the 19th and sign up for Councilor?
This just seems like a weirdly long winded way to go about it so I wanted to check I wasn't missing something obvious.
I'm pretty sure you are correct. Not 100% certain, so if you want to be totally sure, I recommend submitting a ticket and asking.

I've also been wanting to upgrade.
Back at the end of January, this was posted in the News...
Now, second week of March:
So apparently all did not go well, because this wasn't implemented. I've finally decided to just do the "cancel and re-subscribe" thing, but I was really looking forward to the change. Is this something that is still being worked on or on the list of things to be worked on?
You can cancel any time, and your subscription will run its full course (you've already paid for it). Then re-subscribe with your preferred plan when it expires. If you wait to cancel until the day it's due to expire, you could overshoot it and it could renew before you get the chance to cancel. So anyway -- and I hope this makes sense, I haven't had my morning coffee yet -- if you're going to cancel and re-subscribe, cancel now, enjoy your GA until it's due to expire anyway, and then sign up again with an upgraded plan. :)
We realize it's not ideal, but it's how we have to do it at the moment.
Yes, I can shed some light on this. I started implementing it in January, finished several iterations of it, and have been working through some unexpected considerations we ran into along the way.
The original plan was to release this in late February. However, it was delayed - along with everything else on my todo list - for reasons explained in my site update post here.
