So today I ordered a couple of drinks for delivery (a coffee and a matcha) because I'm absolutely dying at work today and threw on a couple food things too. And then one of the food items is canceled, which is fine...but then I notice that it says the order is for pickup. I forgot to select "delivery" before hitting submit. But my anxiety at that point is too high for me to just call and explain what happened....so I basically spent almost $15 on nothing today. XP

Anyone else struggling to do basic human things today? Or have any fun delivery oops moments to make me feel less sad about my stupid mistake and waste of money?

Awe jeez. I can understand the anxiety when it comes to face to face confrontation. I, myself, am very socially awkward when it comes to talking to people.

I don't remember if I had any oops moments with buying things, maybe my brain is trying to repress those memories, haha! But hopefully whoever decided to claim it, enjoyed it. Just think of it as paying for someone's meal in a pay it forward kind of way?

I generally am better with face to face interaction than I am over the phone (depending on the situation), but I definitely avoid both whenever possible.

Yeah, I don't think they could have given them to another customer just for food safety reasons (they would have been sitting for probably 20 minutes or more before being written off) , but hopefully a staff member or someone could take them so they didn't get wasted. Idk though. At least the cookie could have gone to someone.

A similar thing happened to my partner and I last week. We ordered food for takeout, forgetting that the day we ordered it was this massive sports event locally. :/// We had to drive through so much awful traffic and crowds to get our food when we should've just shelled out for delivery.

It doesn't help that my state is absolutely fucking up the vaccination rollout, either, and like nobody at said sports event was wearing masks or even trying to be socially distant lmfao. Thankfully my partner was in and out while I waited at a curbside pickup spot, but still. So much avoidable stress.

I'm so sorry that you had to go through that. As a fellow person with anxiety, I know that that kind of thing feels like it absolutely wrecks you.

Just wanna remind you that it's okay. The people who prepared your order shrugged and moved on with their day. These mistakes happen and though it might feel monumental at the moment, it happens to everyone and no one would judge you for it.

If this kind of thing happens in the future, you might reach out to a friend and let them know what happened. They might be able to help you rationalize your anxiety so you feel more comfortable making the call or they might be able to call for you.

Just remember that this kind of thing happens to everyone, you're definitely not stupid, and you're a wonderful person who made a minor mistake! ^_^

That really stinks, but it's not as funny as the time I ordered a bunch of food for dinner... to my work address... basically in the middle of the night. I wasted a LOT of money and nobody was even there to benefit from my mistake hahahaha

don't be too hard on yourself, this has happened to the best of us (happened to me, the pickup instead of delivery thing...oof)

I once did a coffee pick-up order for this coffee franchise, then went to the wrong location (not the location I actually ordered from). I explained this, very embarassed, and they actually made my order for me regardless, which was very sweet of them! I've got anxiety myself, so I've been practicing with just...owning up to my akwardness and screw ups more often, and for the most part people are on the understanding side (granted, not always), and that's helped me a lot.

my dad once ordered a pizza without cheese accidentally and we didn't look at it when we picked it up (which i always do now) and i couldn't stop laughing when we got home. luckily we had some cheese and just popped it in the oven.

silly mistakes happen! i've ordered to a chili's 30 minutes away before too for pickup.
