Alright so I'm fairly new but wanted to try my hand at making a CW. I'm on laptop and don't have any art programs (unless you count microsoft paint bleh). I read over the rules, submission process, and all and I'm fairly confident in my ability to make some decent. However, I just need overall advice on how to approach it and if anyone has any suggestions for better art programs I'd be happy to hear them!

Hey I can help some. It would be difficult to make cws on Microsoft paint imho. Paint tool sai is a wonderful and affordable program. I believe it’s like 40 to 60ish range. Photoshop is expensive but now they offer monthly packages. I have photoshop and Lightroom,I pay 10 dollars a month. There may be other programs out there but these two are commonly used. And whenever you get a good program..it’s just practice and more practice.
