I don't know where to vent, so I decided I might as well just do it. Our Province has been in a lock down since Dec 26 and you were supposed to stay home. Everything re-opened Feb 16. First thing I did was get a hair cut because it was long and I haven't had a haircut since mid-November 2020. I figured something was a little off yesterday after my cut, but I paid and left.

This morning, I took a look at the back of my hair in a mirror. I cried. It's super botched. I have an undercut and the back is cut very short while the front is long. You might say "Well, it's just hair. It grows back". The point is, I'm stuck walking around feeling embarrassed until it grows out.

I got in touch with my stylist on Facebook. She told me to find someone else that can suit my needs. This is the first time she's botched my hair and I felt that I was being spoken down to? First of all... I didn't ask for you to fucking shave my head and secondly... I'm beyond pissed. I showed her pictures of all these haircuts. She said they were basically all the same that I had now and I said "Ok. Cut my the back of my hair like you did" and I showed her the photo of the back of my hair that's been cut like that for a year. No where did I say "Yeah dude... fucking shave me".

My mom says to me "(Family Member) liked your hair longer and didn't want you to cut it". I said "She also wanted me to stop getting highlights, so I did. I hate long hair and if I want it short, I will get it cut short". They basically tell me what I can, and can't do: Can't have my hair short. Can't have my hair long. Can't have highlights. Can't do this or that. I don't want to live with people telling me how to live based on what they like.

I just don't know anymore. I feel so defeated. I really want to scream, plus my French Toast bake wouldn't bloody cook, so the garbage ate it at 1pm after trying to cook it for hours and got no where (yes. I followed the recipe to a T).

I know how you feel about being told how to live your life, but then again you already know who I live with and what I have to put up with.

I'm sorry that your hair got pretty much ruined, looks like you may need to wear a hat or hood until it stops looking like a hot mess... and no one wants to wear a hat or hood because most of the time it screams... "I HAVE BAD HAIR LEAVE ME ALONE!"

Yeah ... with hair it's difficult to fully hide a botched cut until it sorts itself out.... :( No one got time for that....

The stylist acted very wrong about the entire thing in my opinion, very unprofessional and apathetic too. You are right to react the way you did as it takes time for hair to grow out and you paid the stylist to do a service and to do it right. I hope things improve very very soon too. You are in my thoughts like always! <3

Aw man!! I'm sorry, I hope the vent post helped you feel a bit better? It sucks that you waited for so long for a cut and you were disappointed. But seriously the stylist should have offered to do something about it! Not that I would ever trust her again lol. I have an undercut too and it's not like they're that complicated to do properly, jeez.

, I am sorry your hair got messed up. Hopefully it won't take too long to grow out. You should get some dye and dye it a really cool color, something to make you happy and feel great!

You should definitely grab some highlighter and highlight the hell out of what's left. Have a bag of hair cuttings similar to your old color handy, so when the inevitable "How could you!? I liked your hair before..." comes around, you can hand it to them.
I did that back when I was a teen in the 80's.., got a Cyndi Lauper look, cut and dye job. The stylist wanted to buy my hair (it was REALLY long and naturally red) So I went to a groomer, and got a whole bag of long reddish, most likely irish setter, hair and handed it to my mom when she freaked out.
Admittedly I was grounded for nearly forever.., but it was soooo worth it. She did finally admit, it was my hair, and I was the one who had to live with it, and stopped bossing me around regarding my appearance. Now my hair is long again, and silvery gray, but I love looking back at the old Polaroids of that wonderful pink and orange mess and laugh all over again.

Also, never patronize that stylist again, and make sure all your friends know why. A salon should never be that flippant and dismissive with their customers.

I’m laughing. That’s great! My hair is dark brown and it’s going white. I just turned 34 and my hair started getting white strands when I was 28.

Here’s what she said

“I’m really sorry you're not happy, it's been a few times I've cut your hair that you haven't been happy. Maybe you should try another hairstylist? I don't want you to not like your hair and there might be someone better suited for your needs”

She’s been cutting my hair for two years and I’ve been getting the same cut for the last year and I rarely have a problem. The last “few times” she’s cut my hair was July, September and November. I didn’t have a problem with the last three cuts lol

I never wanted an undercut :c The vent post did make me feel a little better. When I get home, I’ll upload the back of my hair. Even my brother was like “WTF!?”

[edit] The thing with hair dye is I’m picky. I love my natural hair, even though I hate the silver and white strands that’s growing in at a rapid rate.

I even made a grouchy HA to go with my mood lol

Venting does often help. Hopefully you can find someone who you can work with to even it up to something that doesn't make you feel bad or embarrassed about it.

I feel ya on the white streaks. Once they start they are hell to keep up with, and it takes a real expert to mix dyes to get the colors to blend nicely and give a natural highlight look. I gave up at 40 and let it go all gray. Good luck.

My bad I misunderstood. I thought you were saying you already had an undercut and she messed it up. That is 100 times worse WOW! An accidental undercut?? She should have verbally confirmed that for sure... 0_o

She asked me “How do I cut your hair again? Do we shave the back? Yeah we shave it” and just went for it o.o
