Shoutbox doesn't move that fast anymore and seems like only a few people utilize it. Feels like it's harder to make new friends now and carry conversations because it moves so slow with being a pop out screen now. Just looking to maybe start and maintain some new conversations with different people.

I try too hard at this. I find most of my attempts become stagnant or forgotten. In some cases the user quits shortly after...

Mine in another semester of college, studying automotive technology. But I hate cars, making them run another 100,000 miles is how I torture them.

yea I totally feel you there. I tend to go after the new users or users I haven't met and spoil them and try to get a friendship going but it seems shoutbox regulars were the closest things to friends on subeta I actually had and now even they are becoming stagnant on there.

I've made a few long term friends on here thankfully, including someone who took me under when I was a newbie but it most times it feels like people get excited about the site for a few months and then disappear.

It only took one user's initial action to spark my staying. I owe them quite a debt of gratitude. Enough that I began to save money to eventually visit them.

But lately my time on is diminishing, apparently life happens and all I can do learn to deal with it. Things like college, a recent death in my family and the sudden responsibilities it brings. They can be overwhelming, so my limited understanding is being tested.

When I do get frustrated, I do as Captain America, take a sledgehammer or axe and smash the bloody hell out of something

I know it caused a lot of site problems. Just hoping one day it'll be back on the side bar and as active as it once was with old users and new. Idk where else to talk to people. I always see at least 300 people online but I'm some how not connecting with hardly any of them. I of course don't expect to be friends with every single user on the site, that's silly. But where are they all communicating and what drives them to keep coming back if it's not connecting with others?

One day sb will be normal again.

Tell me about it. I was hoping maybe the conversations have moved to the forums but even I seem wrong in thinking that.

Yeah forums just aren't as fast or random as the sb. Some stuff people do talk BUT as stated above sometimes it takes awhile for a new post. I myself am feeling bleh lately after work. Dealing with entitled people is such a drain. How hard is it to wear a mask (or other applicable covering) in a public space you wish to occupy for like 20 minutes? Then my sister had her baby early but hes so sickly he was sent to a specialized childs hospital so if I'm not at work I'm either sleeping or helping her. But in other news I reloaded my webtoon app and am catching up on some of my series!

To be fair, the popout SB doesn't have any indication when it has a new message, so just sitting there waiting for someone to reply is kinda boring. People leave, go do other stuff, and then forget to check the popout SB frequently ): I've heard the sidebar SB caused lots of lag during events, but hopefully Subeta 2.0 fixes it.

There are groups of people in the Small Talk section of the forums. They seem to be pre-formed groups of people, however, and jumping into the conversation out of the blue feels...a little rude? Especially if you don't know the ones involved. Maybe it's just me.

As for what makes them come back...I'd guess habit? I see a lot of the same SB regulars that met each other before the SB went into popout mode.
