I was just pinged by another user through a forum group that had two underscores in their name. So if this rule is outdated it should be removed from the list.

Is it possible they were grandfathered in, like the pet names that have periods in them but can't be used in certain ways?

Unless the rule was put in place extremely recently, no. Their profile says they've been a user for less than 6 months.

according to this bug post from october, stuff with two underscores still cause problems, so it's still supposed to be against the rules? maybe the create account form is not filtering out problematic names correctly.

Haha I saw this and wondered if it was me. My account is over 13 years old and I don't believe that rule was in place always. It's likely they just have an older account. Meanwhile I will just stick with the dumb name I made when I was younger...

edit: missed your addition that it was only 6 months ago. Probably a filtering error than.

Nope not you but funny enough your name breaks TWO of the new rules. The one about the number of underscores, and the one about underscores being at the beginning and end of your name lol

Subeta should just offer free name changes to anyone who has the underscores.

I am pretty sure they ARE offered a free name change. However, if users choose not to change the name, they have been told that parts of the site may not work for them.

I am not sure when the rule was added so I cannot comment on whether that name should have happened or not.

I have been inactive for a while so I didn't even know my name broke any rules until I saw your thread, lol! I'll have to think of a new name and see if they're still changing it for free, I don't have the CSC to change it anyway.

Otherwise I haven't noticed any issues that I've been aware of yet due to the name. They should probably send out a message directly to people with rule breaking names.

Wait what parts of the site wont work? I've had this username since I started and wasn't wanting to change it anytime soon. I haven't encountered a problem yet so far but it may be on a place I don't use much.

@blackwolf_2009 I am not aware of any current problems with names starting with underscores but that is not to say there won't be with the site switching to v2. I was trying to find the post about it but I can't seem to find it. If I find it, I will let you know.

@blackwolf_2009 Back during Morostide I remember there being an issue with a user who had underscores in their name. For some reason you suddenly couldnt visit their profile, ping them, ToT them.. it was as if they didn't exist for a short time.

Bug did fix it obviously. The user did end up changing their username if I recall.
