I want one of my pets to resemble a digimon (not look exactly like it, but have the same color scheme/pattern) but I'm not sure if that's allowed. I see that pets from other pet sites aren't permitted, but I'm wondering if I can make references to movies and shows through my pets.

Its always best to submit a ticket to get an okay for rules. Its staff that makes the final determination and we can only guess what passes and what doesn't.

According to the custom overlay submission page,

Quote
To ensure you&;re cooperating with copyright law, you must make at least four changes from your original source material if it&;s not official Subeta art.
When I submitted a ticket about a year and a half ago asking what this means, I was told:

That rule refers to making fan-based overlays. For example, if your overlay was based off a Pokemon, you would have to have four changes from the source material to make it look not exactly like a Pokemon.
For further clarification:

So to make sure I&;m understanding this, if you wanted to make an overlay of Pikachu, you&;d need to draw your own version or make a Subeta pet look like Pikachu. Then the four changes mean that you&;d need to do something like change the color, or give him two tails, or something like that?

Correct. Because it is copyright material, we need it to have enough distinct changes. If you do not want to make changes like that, you are welcome to still use an unofficial overlay...

So to sum up:

  • If you want an official custom overlay, you need to make at least four changes from the copyrighted image for it to be accepted.
  • If you don't want to make these changes, you can still create your own similar image and use it as an unofficial custom overlay (basically, coded onto the pet's profile rather than seen everywhere on the site).

I hope that helps! If you need further clarification on your particular overlay, I'd recommend filing a ticket. :)

[Edit]Sorry, it took me forever to look that up and type it out. You can close a post by editing the title (click on it) and putting something like "Closed" or "Answered" there and a mod will come along and lock the thread.

users themselves cannot lock a thread. You can either change your thread title and add the words "lock please" and an MM will get around to it when they do, or you can file a Ticket in Help requesting a lock.

Or since this is Help & Questions someone else new might find your thread interesting who wants to know. So you could leave the thread unlocked and unsubscribe from it.
