I know it seems crazy that this is my first Luminaire with an account 8 years old, but I wasn't active for 6 of those years and last year I missed most of Luminaire for various reasons. Since this is my first year posting in the forums and giving/receiving gifts, it's been a lot of fun! However, I wish I had realized how much more popular items would blow up in price due to all of the gift giving. There was a specific item I didn't buy for Black Friday in the Cash Shop because I thought 'Oh it's 10million, I can save up for that.' Now that item is 80 million! ;_; And items that were only 1-3 million are now 5x as much! My wishlist is very expensive now for any of the wearables.
Anybody know if the prices calm down a little after Luminaire is over?
Supply and Demand. It'll always be cheaper to buy an item on Black Friday imo but honestly looking at most of your WL, you want niche items that come from CS or Collections. Collections are only around for a month so if there isn't many and people aren't around, the price will go up. That is the same for almost any limited item. Someone at some point had to have bought that item and paid full price for it. A lot of these items don't come up second hand anymore, at least not in my experience. We have a smaller community than we used to so there's even less of a chance of things popping up.
The simple answer is no. They likely aren't inflated, it's just that the available stock of people willing to sell them, is depleted. The price can only go up as far as I'm concerned.
Yes, prices of some things will calm down a bit over time, but how much depends on the item. It takes quite a while for CS items to sell in shops IME so the prices tend to drop over time
I just realized this when I saw how much the was now selling for. Inflation is nuts this year.

The information you provided is more helpful (and hopeful), thank you. It was CS items specifically that I noticed exploding in price but if they only ever go up like the previous poster suggested then I shouldn't see less popular but older CS and Collection items either staying the same over a long period of time or even going down depending on the item. I'm fine with saving up for the Collection items once they roll around again in the Cash Shop. Also, it was a Bonus CS item that went from 10mil to 80mil, so it's actually always available, just pricey even for CS. And I thought I noticed some more popular Quest Shop items going up in userprice even though they're still available in the quest shop so it doesn't seem as cut and dry as a lack of supply.
Also, , that ornament's price is bonkers! That one would be really interesting to watch what happens to the price once Luminaire is over. Edit: After I posted it went from 99million to 5million. But that's because the only 2 available are either 99 or 5. Still crazy.
Wh-- that ornament was like, 990k when Lumi started! I almost bought it but decided against it. I wish I would have, now! I didn't know that inflation went up around Lumi. This is really the first time I noticed it. I'll keep that in mind for next year, but that does make it increasingly difficult to randomly gift people WL items on a budget. This is just another reason why I love the other currencies so much.
I'm so glad I bought it before Lumi started. I picked it up for like 80k.
It's insane. I have items in my shop that are 99k that I know won't sell because of it. I love Subeta and I've been on here for over 12 years but the currency is broken.

Wow, really? That's a great deal! Now I know to get Lumi stuff before it begins LMAO
I haven't been on for Lumi for the past few years so I went through and spent a ton of sP when Fireside started so I'd be ahead of the price gouging.

Oh my gosh! That is crazy! If the price doesn't drop, it might be a crystal shop item in the future....
Yeah, I tend to gift from holiday currencies because many people's WL items are several millions each.

Me too! I'm running out rapidly though, hopefully I'll have a big chance to stock up on currencies this coming year.
Simple answer? Some cases, yes, they will explode and in other cases, they do drop. Ornaments seem the most volatile in that regard.
