I lost my job back in March, back when the you-know-what hit the fan. The loss of my job is a long story. Suffice to say, my former employer is fighting my unemployment. Still. I have been trying to get it since the day after I lost my job. I recently won my court case in an over-the-phone hearing with a judge. But my former employer has now appealed and the case is in limbo somewhere in the courts again. Meanwhile, I'm job searching day in and day out. I'm on every job search site you can think of, mainly Indeed's app. I'm applying to things I never thought I'd ever think about, even though what I really want is some type of office work. I'm an excellent employee, but no one seems to want to give me a chance when there's so many people out of work who they could hire who have tons more experience than my measly five years. A couple days ago, I even started selling some of my things online - just a small freezer that I don't really need and only $80. I also have my PS4 and games on Facebook's marketplace, but no interest on that yet. I hate to sell my stuff, but I'm not really using it and I need money, bad. I even just opened a shop on here, literally today, because PayPal finally got my bank verified. I don't know what else I can do. It's frustrating, because I have medicine I need to buy and I need to buy special food for my cats because one has a sensitive stomach and I really, really hate laying all of my financials on my parents, even though they're really cool about it.

I guess I don't really want advice or anything, because I don't know what else I could possibly do. I'm just kind of freaking out, my anxiety is through the roof, and I needed to vent. Share your own I-hate-this-damn-virus stories maybe? Anyone else on here lost their job over this damn thing?

My manager at my last job gave me Covid-19 last year. That's my horror story.

I went through the process of losing that job with the spasming cough and the loss of my voice most notably because no one, including the general manager of the facility (couple up from my manager), knew I needed an "exit interview." So I suffered through that with as much grace as I could manage.

I get the whole "Not wanting to rely on parents" thing. I'm still at home for the reasons you listed and because the job market around is absolute garbage. I wish I could help but I'm... not in a place where I actually can, so I guess it's the thought that counts?

Hi Lisa! Let me know if I can take a look at your resume and spruce it up. I'm a work counselor and would be happy to help. Oh and for your own security, you can remove your full name and personal location infos.

Honestly, just knowing I'm not alone in this helps. I'm sorry about your former boss. What an asshat.

That would be nice, thank you! It's actually on my mom's computer because mine doesn't have a word processor, so I will have her email it to me.

It's an awful, awkward situation. I absolutely hate it. I hate hearing about others being in the same situation. Like come on, folks.

He was, lmao. He hit on me from day one, like, dude... you're barking up a telephone pole, forget the wrong tree.

Is doing grocery delivery or food pick ups an option for you? It doesn't always make much everyday but its something you can try until you have a more steady employment. Right now its the only reason an ex of mine is able to keep his house and phone paid since his main employment got his time off requests screwed up and have him off schedule for a month!!!

Usually with food delivery your car doesn't have to meet as many requirements as the taxi side does. Plus this way you are the only one in the car so its much safer.

FINALLY GOT THE 15K WARDROBE DONE!!!!! Next up gutting and selling it.

I'm thinking about maybe doing that. Right now, though, I'm applying at grocery stores in the interim because I just found out that employees who work in grocery get the vaccine first.
