Some retired and holiday items return for certain holidays and some don't. Is there a guide anywhere saying what items return after discontinuation? (Freyalise, for example, items are all holiday items, but even some that were marked retired were restocked for the holiday.)

I'm wondering in plan for Morostide. There's a ton of Moro items needed for achievements that cost a buttload, and I like to use my sP wisely, so I don't want to pay for an item that's just going to return later this month.

Hope, luck, and begging on Items to put back into circulation. xD

Usually, they bring back items from the previous year as well as items from the current year. Sometimes they bring back items from an extra year or more, or random items from random years. The odds of new vs. old items coming up can vary, and older items are usually released in different ways (e.g. via quest givers instead of the pumpkin patch).

If you're interested in retired Morostide items, I recommend doing the Carnival Games regularly (Mallarchy Pond, etc.) - they give out some recently retired items sometimes (I think just from the last year, maybe two?), and I'm not sure how much longer that will continue.

Learning magic so you can see the future, perhaps? XD

I think a good rule of thumb for holiday items is to wait until the season is over or almost over to buy them. If they come back, you have a chance of getting them yourself or buying them at a lower price.

If they don't come back, then you'll know and it'll make sense to purchase them then instead of waiting a whole nother year to see if they might come back again.

The Spooky Carnival gives out old Morostide items, but only Trick-Or-Treat items. There are quite a few Pumpkin Patch items that are expensive to buy, but hopefully the staff have taken that into consideration. They said in a recent news post that they were planning on bringing back some old items, I'm guessing they mean the Pumpkin Patch items since the Trick-Or-Treat items have the carnival.

Sometimes quests give out old holiday items, but they are usually retired items from the Holiday Shop that we no longer have, so you're likely to get many repeat items after a while. However, during this time, Carl will give out any Freyalise items and not just the ones that were restocked during the last Keel Hauliday. In fact, he does this when he gives them out during Keel Hauliday too.

For every holiday/retired item that's expensive there are a ton that aren't. The ones that are expensive, only a few of those are expensive because they were rare/uncommon, most of them are that way because they're wanted. Quests, RIFT, and Carnival prizes appear to be random, so while they are a mechanism for getting more items out there they won't necessarily save you much in the way of sP. This is all in the nature of items that are distributed stochastically.

Even if staff does do what they say as a means of getting old items (and they do say that), it might be via a similar mechanism where you have to do more quests than possible or be all Carnival all the time and neither of those things are possible. Even if you have no life. has a good rule to follow. Me I like Achievements and have spent a ton of sP to get them, so to me is also useful to think about what those items/that particular Achievement are worth to me. Is it easier to make the sP in the time I expect it will take for the item to re-release?

Some guesses on this will be more wild than others. Part of this is experience playing this game and seeing what items are begged for in the re-release thread, but mostly, we users don't know.

Pumpkin Patch items, they will not deflate so fast if the mechanism is the same as the ones we've been given so far.
