I thought it would be fun for everyone to post some odd or little known facts in this thread

The 1904 Olympic marathon was run on 26 miles of dusty hilly terrain with no points to get water on. The track was also open to traffic, so runners had to dodge cars throughout the race. The 1st place winner crossed the line, hallucinating after drinking raw eggs and rat poison (thought to be performance enhancing at the time), and being carried by his two trainers.

According to British law, any unclaimed swan swimming in the open waters of England and Wales belongs to the Queen. The law originated in medieval times when swans were a delicacy for the wealthy, but it still stands today.

The original version of Hawkins' Entropy of a Black Hole formula did not include pi on the numerator, and 4 as the numerical constant on the denominator. It can be seen on page 63 of The Universe in a Nutshell.

Human skin is very similar to pig skin. As a result, humans taste very similar to pork (or so I've been told).

Fruit stickers are edible, though the same with any fruit, washing prior to eating is recommended. The glue used for them is regulated by the FDA.
