I know this is a little late but I've only just now seen the update and -
I'm admittedly a bit confused about the name update so I'd really appreciate it if anyone could clarify a very simple question for me that I haven't seen answered (unless I'm simply looking in the wrong places, apologies if so), but if you rename a pet, does the legacy link still actually link to that pet despite their "current" name being something else?
I know the Legacy name will stay with them no matter what you rename them or how often you do it, but I'm just wondering if the link (ie - pets/PetName) still works to link to that pet, or if you have to use pets/Username/PetName? Thank you in advance. ♥

Yup! The legacy name and the actual name both link to the pet.
For example, take my pet Rien, whose legacy name is Notice. If I use:
I get: Notice
And if I use:
[pet not found]
I still get: [pet not found]
Different code, but same result, as you can see. :) It also works for the long link. https://subeta.net/pets/Written/Rien https://subeta.net/pets/Notice
Thank you so much for the swift and thorough response, I really appreciate it! Ahhh, that's genuinely really neat, then! ♥ I'm very glad to see that you can still use the legacy link as it means I don't have to update anything that links to it + I can also still enjoy that name basically being attached to them. Thank you so much for answering my question and have a fabulous day! ♥

You're welcome!
If you have any other questions about it, I've been trying to collect all frequently asked questions into one thread. In fact, I just added your question. You might find an answer to a question you didn't know you had yet.

Have a nice day too! :)
I appreciate the link / thoughtfulness! I actually did read through that prior to making this thread aha but thank you nonetheless for being so considerate and helpful; that's very kind of you! ♥♥
