Hey, everyone! I've missed you all.

Things really haven't changed in my life. Tbh, they've really only gotten more stressful. BUT. I'm hoping maybe some of that will come to an end sooner rather than later.

So, as an update...

and I drove to Georgia to see his 2nd cousin (the little girl he helped raise), Brianna, graduate. Given that it was during Covid-19, only the seniors were allowed at the High School, and we all gathered at her mother (Rachel)'s place and watched her graduate via YouTube. We spent a week staying at Bri & Mason (her boyfriend)'s place. Played D&D with them, watched movies, and just goofed around. Miss them so much. We made plans for them to fly up here in October and stay with us. Hopefully that still goes through!

I lost a (distant) uncle to Covid-19, and nearly lost my Aunt Marcie. She was on a ventilator for a little over a month, but she did it. She made it through. She's herself again. Looking at her now you'd never know it happened.

Rachel's husband, Austin, went missing a couple days before Father's day. They found his car a couple days later like an hour and a half south of where they lived. And a few more days after that they found him in the water under a bridge. He was alive, but in critical condition. To this day he's in a mental institution. Not sure if or when he'll be released. Still don't have a clear story on why everything happened, and I'm not honestly sure that we ever will.

Our car was riddled with hail on the 11th. First car we've owned that was made in the last decade, lol. New enough to owe payments. Cracked the windshield and put about 30 dents in it. Insurance will cover the windshield, and maybe the dents, but the guy who does hail damage and estimates is on vacation (we finally have an appointment to see him on the 3rd of August).

Then the apartment flooded again (it flooded May 28th of last year) on the 15th. They wouldn't even return our phone calls, even though we told them there was raw sewage on our floors. It's worse than the first time it flooded. It covered the entire living room and part of the laundry room this time, on top of both bedrooms and the hallway. More than 24 hours later they finally called, and it was to tell us to STOP CALLING and that "someone was handling it." Didn't even get someone out here to see the apartment until the 18th. They finally pulled all the air-movers out of the apartment on the 28th. We're certain they'll have to tear up all the flooring again, because when they finished putting in the flooring last time they never went back through and put in all the baseboards... so there was nothing to prevent the sewage from going under the floor. And then it sat there for 3 days before any attempt was made to dry it. However, we have yet to hear anything from the property managers about it. Chris had to go get a tetanus booster shot the 21st because in the process of us trying to move things out of here he got cut and something actually went in his hand. The 20th was our wedding anniversary, but between Covid and everything with the apartment we did a whole lot of nothing.

Sometime last week, I think on the 23rd or so, I handed in a formal resignation for my FSM position. I'm going back to being a regular clerk and going back to my home store here in town as soon as they can find someone to replace me. That store I took was just an absolute nightmare. I'm very proud of the changes and progress I made at that store, but I've hit that point where I know that I, personally, am not going to make any more progress in that store. Be it that I'm not stern enough, or that I'm too stressed in my personal life to focus on work, or a little bit of column a and a little bit of column b, who knows. But I know that I'm not the person to further that store's progress at this point in time. They pay cut will suck, but all the same it won't be too bad. We made it just fine when he and I were both just clerks, so we'll continue to be just fine.

But I'm alive. And that counts for something, yeah? I'm trying not to let it get to me too much, but it's just so much all at once.

I haven't decided exactly what I want to do with my return to Subeta, but I know I don't want to get as wrapped up in it as I normally do. In the last few days that I've been logging in and exploring the site, I've enjoyed working on my SubQ collection (boy I've missed quite a bit!), so maybe that's what I'll work toward -- except I killed all my SubQ invites. Oops! I just don't want to overwhelm myself and lose my interest in Subeta again. This site, and all of you, are a large part of me. <3 One thing I know I want to do for sure is see about rejoining Unique. <3 <3 <3 I miss you guys!

I've been playing a lot of Pokemon Go again, so that's been fun. It's kind of gently eased me back in to socializing when it comes to raiding and whatnot, so that's been pretty helpful. Animal Crossing was also a huge savior for my soul this year. Might poke at Flight Rising again (Nocturnes are my weakness). What about you guys? Playing anything new? Revisiting anything old?

Time for massive pings? I think so.

Welcome back, Ria!! Goodness freaking gracious, you've been through the ringer. I'm glad you've been hanging in there despite it all. Keep it up!!

I'm still on a semi-hiatus here but I try to poke my head in at least once a day to check on things, I'm just not doing much here otherwise. I do want to get back into it with my pets now that the naming system has been updated, but we'll see. The creative juices haven't really been flowing lately. x_x (I have a friend waiting for me to finish a new user profile for her, and it's just... not getting done. RIP.)

I'm playing Animal Crossing and Flight Rising as well. :) (I can be found on FR as "Zonra" if you'd like to add me as a friend.) My younger sibling finally got our little sister into FR and she's going nuts with it lmao. I belong to the Lightning Flight mostly for aesthetic reasons. (Cyan and Cerulean are some of my favorite colors on FR and the Lightning eyes match the best!! Spirals are my weakness.) I'm still on discord too although I've developed the nasty habit of leaving my status as "offline" and not always replying to people.... oops.

I hope things keep looking up for you and your family soon. It really sounds like y'all've been through hell and back. D:

I am still not working but, gardening, sewing and working her in the house every day. I have been playing pokemon go and wizards unite but, am leaning towards firing up my sims game someday. Ugh, , I'm so sorry to hear you & your family have been going through so much. It must have been very tough to step down but it's such a mature decision, to realize that it wasn't going to work for you or that you weren't able to work for them. I don't know a lot of people who would have been able to be that honest with themselves. I wish you luck with everything, socially and in real life. It's been very dull without you around here! I'm glad to see you back, in whatever capacity you can be. <3

holy hell. Feels like the landlord broke several laws with y’all. But they get away with shit because they know regular folks don’t have the resources to sue. Ugh. I’m so sorry hun. I’ve had the sewage flood in the past but it was localized to the bathroom. It was a fucking nightmare and I can’t imagine that happening to the entire ground floor. Will insurance cover new furniture or anything? Jesus. Christ. I feel you in the ‘at least I’m alive’ but with all you guys have gone through it sounds like more vacation time with loved ones would only bless you guys. Man oh man. Big hugs to both of y’all. Welcome back! Remember that what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger, right? I'm sorry that 2020 has been kicking your butt so badly. I don't really play Subeta much, I mainly lurk and keep an eye on some people and things.

I've managed to get my hands on a Switch finally, and dove headfirst into Animal Crossing. I also got Pokémon Let's Go, Eevee from a friend for my birthday this week, and that's also helped consume my life. They've, together, really helped get me through the last month.

In January, I got away from the toxic hell hole that my job had become thanks to the manager of my department (I could share some stories with you), and got a job where I'm appreciated and supported. I'm working on recovery. It's a long road.
