I know I'm one of the people who asked for a way to remove the legacy option permanently, and I'm delighted that it was rolled out so quickly.

But I also found out the hard way just how easy it is to remove the legacy name of the wrong pet, and I wouldn't wish for that to happen to anyone else.

What I suggest is something similar to abandoning a pet: clicking on the "Fresh Start" cleansing pool would take you to a second page which showed the pet's image and legacy name for confirmation, and it would include the warning that this is an irreversible change. Then when you click on the "remove legacy name" option, it brings you to a second page where you have to enter in your pin number (assuming you have pin activated for this option).

With that much warning, no one should ever find themselves removing the legacy name of the wrong pet. In addition, in case their account is hacked or their little sister "borrows" their laptop, their legacy names have that extra pin protection.

I support this.

I was thinking about also Suggesting two large pool images across the top of the page instead of one with the correct button under each, or having an image vertically between the Appetite pool entry button and the the Serenity pool entry button. That way it looks like the user is getting into a different pool entirely.

I support 100%!

I hadn't thought about the drop-down aspect but those are so annoying! It is so easy to either forget to select or to select the pet just above or just below! (Zapper, I am looking at you.)

What I noticed that the options are really similar in appearance. It's way too easy to click the wrong one... (I imagine the pop-ups are nearly identical too... Just text and a button... So nothing really screaming at you...)

Not only would PIN protection - if you chose to enable it - be a second level of protection against the possibility of your plans being ruined, accidentally by you or maliciously by someone else... But navigating away means there doesn't have to be any aesthetic change to the pools to allow for more clarity.

Agreed--for some of my pets, I would hate to lose their legacy names if I misclicked or selected the wrong pet. Some PIN protection would be really great, and I would definitely appreciate a second screen that shows which pet will lose the legacy name, and what that name is.

Thanks for the suggestion! After considering all options, we opted to add an extra confirmation page to this feature. The new confirmation page makes it super clear what pet you have selected and what exactly the feature will do. It clarifies that it will not change or modify the pet's name, and has a link to the actual Change Name page for people who are looking for that.

As stated in the news, you can file a ticket if you accidentally cleared a legacy name prior to this change.
