The official Kpop thread got locked so if anyone has any recs just leave them here!
I love LOONA, KARA, and Twice.
I think pretty much everyone knows BTS and BlackPink so uh..
Older groups that have since broken up.โ T-Ara F(x) Girls Generation( at least I think they broke up, theyโve been mostly doing solo individual work since 2017/18) 2NE1
Still around, first wave... 2003-2009/12-ish. Super Junior Rain(his older music, heโs mostly acting now) SHINee Infinite 2PM CNBlue F.T. Island
Newer, though I think they might be considered old now Exo Red Velvet Block B
Individuals, not groups IU BoA( she's Korean but started out primarily as a J-Pop artist, she sang the ending song for the Inuyasha anime, Every Heart when it was out in the early 2000s. She's been pretty much only singing k-pop since 2011-ish though. )
oh yes I used to love T-Ara back in the day! I'm also trying to get into Red Velvet right now but I keep getting distracted by Twice. I'll have to check some of these out! Is Rain a solo artist btw?
Yep, he's a solo artist. He was part of the first generation hallywu wave of artists during the early 2000s. If you still remember the movie Ninja Assassin from 2009, he played the main character( did a whole US promotion circuit on talk shows for it, it ended up being a moderate success in the US though so...). There's a clip from 2009 where he did a dance-off with Stephen Colbert.
DBSK and TVXQ were some of the first wave too, not sure how active they are now though, but I was really into them around 2008-9 though.
(, )
I love IU, been listening a lot to her. Otherwise I pretty much listen to any korean music from korean drama, lol.
Obviously Blackpink and BTS are awesome but everyone knows them already.
Aaand everyone knows Exo(-K) as well, but I love their old album (XOXO). I listen to it all the time!
I also really like Stray Kids

Ooh, I forgot about Stray Kids. I'm not as familiar with that group though I've listened to some of their music before. Got7 is another group under JYP, the management company that manages both Twice and Stray Kids but they're not as popular as Twice and Stray Kids though.
My daughter adores Tae Min from Shinee- he just put out a new song called Criminal
Lately, I just listen to Spotify's "K-Pop Rising" playlist. I haven't followed a lot of groups too closely. Everything moves so fast in the K-pop music industry.
My favorites on K-Pop right now are F.T. Island, Novanox, and TRAX. Though I guess technically these also might be more considered K-Rock...
"Think about it. If I was a copy, why would I kick my own butt?" -Dark Pit, Kid Icarus: Uprising (2012)
tvxq seems to be on a bit of a hiatus right now? but according to this rumored sm schedule they may have an upcoming cb? i'm having trouble keeping up lmao
and they did split over a decade ago but my heart still counts the three who left as members, so. junsu (xia) also just put out a new mini-album worth checking out! called pit-a-pat.
i absolutely recommend: tvxq (as five, in particular), shinee (and all member's solo songs), infinite, 2pm, nu'est, b.a.p, monsta x (including wonho), a.c.e, sf9, ukiss, exo, and ateez
and f.t.island is so so good <3
For girl groups, I'd recommend Dreamcatcher, CLC, Itzy, G-Idle, Blackpink, EXID, & Red Velvet. Boy groups: Pentagon, Vixx, Super Junior, Monsta X, Cross Gene (although they're a hair away from disbandment ;_;), NCT, BTS, & EXO. Co-ed groups & solo artists: Holland, Hyuna, Sunmi, Chungha, Miso, KARD, & Checkmate.
I'm sure there's more bc I love kpop but this is who immediately comes to mind :)
I'd also like to rec BTOB I'm usually not super into ballads, but theirs are very pleasant to listen to ^^ they have great upbeat/party songs too, and are often very funny on variety shows the members have their own solo songs (my fave are from Changsub and Hyunsik) and their new sub-unit BTOB 4U recently debuted with Show Your Love
Day6 are amazing too, tons af great songs if you're into pop-rock โจ
for non-idol stuf I'd definitely rec Epik High โค
other recommendations: Dreamcatcher, Stray Kids, Brown Eyed Girls, Shinhwa, Sechskies (esp the cheesy 90s stuff)
Block B! My Homestuck friends showed me the group, and I like their songs Nalin A and Nilili Mambo

ooo the other recommendations here are great my personal favorites that i dont think haven't been mentioned here -- seventeen, mamamoo, astro, gfriend
also, speaking as a fellow twice fan, maybe jyp's new jpop girl group niziu would interest you? i know jpop isn't the same but the group has a very similar vibe to pre-fancy era twice!!!
Hmmm ultimate BIAS is between: RAIN and GD. I'm a multi
ARMY ๐ BTS VIP ๐ BIG BANG EXOL - EXO IGOT7 - GOT7 ELF - SUPER JUNIOR SHAWOLS - SHINEE VROCCOLI - VROMANCE CARAT - SEVENTEEN NCTZENS - NCT-127 MONBEBE - MONSTA X INSPIRIT - INFINITE A+ - MBLAQ HIGH SKOOL - EPIK HIGH BOISE - CNBLUE BBC - BLOCK B I AM - 2 AM HOTTEST - 2 PM IKONIK - iKON MELODY - BTOB DIMPLES - X NINE
My first ever concert was when Rain made his debut, cool fact I'm EXACTLY 6 DAYS OLDER THAN HIM, but all that aside. I started kpop when JYP brought out his artist which is PEARL who debuted in 1997 when I was 15 and for some reason, (which is most likely my fault. Reason I why? Because I missed my dad, who was 6,000 thousand miles away and I haven't seen him since he was told to ship out when I was 10. He was stationed in South Korea at the time and well I found myself being shipped to South Korea at the age of 15. Schools were an entire different story and I'm not going to hide it, I loved every single bit of it and I never wanted to leave. But my dad retired a few months before I was going graduate and we ended up flying back to San Diego.
sorry the caps, I had this saved on my clipboard
