mangosteen is great. i don't think many places sell it, but it tastes really good. i think it's a tropical fruit. it's shaped like a tangerine on the inside with slices you pull out that have a seed in the middle.

i also love rambutan, which is also tropical. you can sometimes find it in Asian grocery stores, but it's usually black and quite old.

otherwise: crunchy grapes and crunchy cherries will always be GOAT.

they're basically open space homes with walls made of windows. they're mid-century from the ~1950's. most are located in CA are sell for ~2-4m because they are in wealthier neighborhoods. they're a BITCH to heat and cool.

Alright :) I think my favourite fruits are nectarines, strawberries and mangos <3 My dream home is either a house boat or an eco home. Or both at the same time 😂 Having lived in Amsterdam, I was always so envious of the people living in their house boats. It's so quaint and beautiful and you can be right in the middle of the city without having to pay those horrendous fees. Or you could live on a beautiful lake. It's perfect - the eco home is more because of my personal views and values :)

i had to google what an ecohome is. that's so cute! i love tiny homes, i think they're adorable. i would love to spend time in one, but i have no idea where i would stay in one! there are none in my area. i agree, i would love to live in a place that's eco-conscious and friendly. houseboats sound lovely, i wish that was a thing where i love.

Today's question:

Do you believe in (specific) superstitions?

My personal answer: I am not an overly superstitious person, but we have one superstition in my home country which I cannot wean myself off of. It's that wishing somebody a happy birthday before their actual birthday brings incredibly bad luck. I've lived in different countries and interacted with many different cultures and most of them don't care, but I could never wish someone an early happy birthday in good conscience.

They are really picking up in popularity, sadly they are still quite expensive...I'm an eco-nerd so I'll probably end up living in one of those, but who knows where life takes you :) Thanks for pinging other people to participate in this! My answer for today's question: I'm not that superstitious but I also know the case about not wishing somebody an early happy birthday. Furthermore, there is one with a black cat crossing your way. I don't know the exact content of that superstition right now 😅 A fellow student of mine is from Croatia and she told me the following Croatian superstition: If you drop a knife by accident you are not allowed to pick it up again. It has to be another person.

yay hello! i have never heard of that superstition. it's interesting to hear other country's superstitions.

i live in California so there aren't many bodies of water to have a houseboat. and most developments are apartments because it's very crowded. i also think there's a lot of regulations that prevent tiny homes from being built. it is really unfortunate.

today's q: i don't think i believe in anything. if i had to pick one, i would probably say the one where if you break a mirror, you get seven years of bad luck. also, the glass is sharp haha.

Would you like to stay in your area or would you like to move away?

My personal answer: Currently studying in the south of the Netherlands, I could see myself moving to Utrecht or Haarlem to grow old, but until then I want to live in many different areas, in many different countries on many different continents. Singapore and Taiwan are definitely on the list as well as Australia 😍

I would like to move away to somewhere more secluded, on a ranch or something with a few acres of land surrounding me. I don't like having neighbors and right now I currently live in a rowhouse and it stresses me out. x_x Ideally I'd love to live in the desert again but my bf can't tolerate heat so I'm fine with living up north as long as he's happy.

I would move in a heartbeat, to a cold, remote location where I can be at peace with myself. Where my own concerns are the order of the day. "Alone in the Wilderness" comes to mind.

My dream home is small, barely big enough for me, and my gear. But as a contrast, a huge tract of land to live off of.

I guess my only superstition, is ho w some things in this world are left oriented yet no one complains about them. Since north is oriented as it is, the sky moves right to left, so does the moon. The planets revolve counter clockwise...I can go on. A lot of things are left oriented, because left minded people made it that way.

yeah, luckily i don't live in SF or LA but it's very, very crowded there. traffic is really bad. it can sometimes take half an hour to travel a really small distance.

i would love to stay where i am now, but i don't know yet. i live in a very HCOL area, so rent is around $2k USD for an apartment a month. (now you know why tiny homes look so appealing!)

i agree, i'd love to live in Taiwan or Hong Kong for a few years. i definitely want to visit Singapore for an extended amount of time. i don't know how i would do that though, haha.

My personal answer: I'm a jellyfish. No eyes, no nose, no ears, no heart, no brains yet surviving for millions of years. Some think it's really pretty, others think it's disgusting. Can kill you if you mess with it. And it will make others pee on you xD Just going with the flow and dealing with what's being thrown at it xD Also, it is fluorescent and there is one kind that may be immortal because it can reverse it's aging 😍 maybe it's more of an obsession rather than actually representative for me as a person but well that's the animal I feel most connected to so these is that. At least the no brains part is a shared characteristic 😂

[Spoiler=For sensuous] What's the reason for the traffic problems? Bad traffic light system or too many cars? Or are the roads an issue? Sometimes rent prices are just absurd... I paid 600€ ($675) for a single room in a shared apartment in the outskirts of Amsterdam and was envied by my friends for the "amazingly cheap" place I got... Yeah especially Singapore is insanely expensive... I thought about doing my master's there but I always feel like it's a waste of money if I can get a really good degree here for free...

I just reflected on my own answer, I love watching nature documentaries. Especially those dealing with the oceans. I don't know much about the elements, water covers most of Earth...

there are a TON of people. the infrastructure is awful and there are many inefficient highways and roads that can lead to a lot of traffic jams. and omg i would die if i was paying that much for a room in a shared apartment! i love roommates, they make it really easy to make friends and it's like having a built-in friend when you move in!

also i am so jealous of your free degree. i don't even want to calculate how much mine cost haha.

My personal answer: I'm a typical optimist who is dreaming of a better world, but I do tend to get discouraged sometimes and when it counts I can be quite analytical to assess the most likely outcome. So it can vary but overall I'm really optimistic.

[Spoiler=For sensuous] Yeah... Rent in some of Europe's capitals is just outrageous. A former colleague of mine was living near Amsterdam for 6 years and said it would have been more cost efficient to just buy a house... Yes same! My roommates are everything! Just yesterday I decided to go to Rotterdam to visit a former roommate together with our third roomie. Because the last one is flying to Quebec city to do her PhD and she wants to see us again before she leaves. God I'm gonna miss her so much! I already told her I'll be flying out to see her either 2021 or 2022 <3 I'm sorry but the US college degree system is the dumbest thing ever. Why would you want that your citizens are already knee deep in depts by the time they turn into an adult. So many bright people won't even get the chance to show their potential if they messed up in high school and don't get a scholarship. And then a lot of dumb people get sports scholarships who are not even taking higher education seriously. It's really bad for the economy... Here everyone gets a chance all they have to do is apply. And if your parents are not able to fiance your living expenses, the country is more than happy to pitch in. Everyone should have the chance to make something of themselves. But in the UK for example the students fees are quite expensive as well so it's not all the same in Europe sadly :/ Hahah the cat picture made my day 😂 [/Spoiler]
