Hello hello! I hope everyone is safe and well!
I am just now coming back to Subeta after many years of not playing and was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of where I should get started? Any tips? Any external resources available for "new" players?
the pet Newbie has a pretty thorough explanation of various site features.
subetalodge is a great fansite that has a full item database with info on where/how to get them, lists of pet colors & species, minions sorted by color/theme, checklists for books & food your pets have read/eaten, and more.
the FAQ has answers to a lot of questions, and the dailies page linked on the homepage provides quick access to various site features that are good to do regularly.
depending on how long it's been, you might have missed the introduction of shengui guo, a new land that includes the bathhouse, which you should visit every day for increasing rewards.
if you're into the avatar-making aspect of the site, be sure to check out the new wardrobe - it's still a work in progress but should be working well now.
other than that, feel free to ask if you have any additional questions.
Hi! Welcome back!
I see you have a pet with numbers after their name, Gaston_834. Names become available after someone has been inactive for more than a year, and it looks like someone took Gaston. Fortunately, you now can change his name freely to something else if you'd like. Normally, names cost 500 CSC to change, but if a name is taken due to inactivation, it is free to change it.
(Just don't do a name swap before changing the name, because the freebie does not carry over.)
If you find that you don't want some of your pets anymore, you can either drop them off in the pound (located at Delphi Beach) or you can put them up for adoption in the Adoption Center forum. Many users would covet your pets with IDs under 1million (it's a thing around here). You can also adopt more pets from the pound and other users at the Adoption Center forum, if you would like. However, trading and selling pets are not allowed.
If you want to keep and revamp your pets, you're going to need some sP. Fortunately, that's easily achieved with Quests. I'd recommend adding the Quests widget to the sidebar so you can check off that you've done them each day. They can be a little tedious, but they're done quickly and are pretty easy to do while watching a show or something. If you have less than 1,500,000 sP, start with Sarah's. After that I'd recommend doing Shinwa's quest, then the Wizard's, then going from top to bottom starting with Blue. You can do it in whatever order you want, but I prefer that method because (a) Shinwa requires random quests to be done for the others, and you're out of luck if you've completed them all; (b) the Wizard always gives you an extra 50 wizard tokens for the last quest, and he sometimes surprizes you with a bonus quest (random event), so if you've already completed all your quests you get the extra 50 wizard tokens twice, once for your last quest and once for the bonus quest; and then (c) the rest don't really matter, except that you need at least 1,500,000 sP to do Saggitarius's quests, so it's better if he's last.
All items you get from quests can be sold if you don't want to keep them. You can keep them either in a gallery you create, or in your vault. If you want to sell, you'll need a shop. Special note: shops were upgraded a few years back, so if you have an old shop you may need to convert it before you can use it. Pricing items in the shop is very tedious if you don't have a Gold Account, but you can get one from the Cash Shop, or by buying medallions from other users (the 1 Week Gold Account medal is currently going for ~8 million sP which is a really good price), or from your loyalty totem, which you should have a few lying around in your inventory.
To find out what colors and species are available for pets, you can look in the Subetapedia or on Subetalodge, which is a fan-run site. Subetalodge is also handy for any kind of item that you may want or need.
This is way more detailed than I initially planned on being, and obviously it's pet-oriented because that's mainly what I do on this site. However, you can do tons of things here without caring about the pets in the slightest. But anyway, I hope that gives you a start and if you have any questions let me know! :)
If you aren't sure where the loyalty boxes mentioned by Poetry are, you may need to visit your dashboard to have the long time user achievements activated to get them. Then they will show up in your inventory.
Thank you so much for your responses, they were so helpful!
