So we were told that there would "be no Bonus Weekend in May." However, it was left unclear if there would be in any of the other following months. The staff comments on the news post made it sound like there wouldn't be, so I'm asking for confirmation. And if it really is gone for good, will there be an official announcement that's more clear than what was said in the news post?
What specifically do they need to say to you?
You shoul file a ticket in help. Staff occasionally pops in here, but not always and the rest of us only know what was written. It seemed final and permanent to me.
If my mind isn't tricking me, staff said they were planning an announcement (or maybe a forum message, shrugs!) to explain all of that... Only thing we have to do is to wait, I suppose! I hope they'll choose a solution that's valuable and beneficial, 'cause I felt like bonus weekends were the most profitable days. Let's see how that goes!
All of this is my interpretation but I took it as that it's gone forever in the form of CSC bonus weekend based on Keith's posts in the comments where it was initially announced there would be no May bonus weekend here.
The bonus items and such will instead be applied to the CSC Subscriptions so they can actually plan to budget. Most people just hold off on purchasing until the CSC bonus weekend since they happened so regularly vs. a CSC Subscription they could plan for X subscriptions of Y dollars coming in next month.
It doesn't mean they won't ever have them again to boost revenue...but the consistent monthly CSC bonus weekends sound gone.
Like I said, it does seem like it's gone for good, but it wasn't made explicitly clear. They never said "There will never be a Bonus Weekend again, we're stopping doing them forever," or something like that.
The subscriptions idea may backfire IMO. Many people already are wary of subscriptions.
I'm sure once they officially announce the subscription stuff some users will say, "Ugh, not another thing I gotta subscribe to" and complain. If the Bonus Weekend item section remains in the cash shop, I reckon people will just get new bonus items directly from there.
And if staff cause another mishap like they did with the new wardrobe, lots of users will abruptly in their subscriptions in protest. Which of course means lost revenue for the site.
Hopefully staff has thoroughly planned this out. But I'm also aware that this plan could blow up in their faces like the new wardrobe did. I've seen many users state that the old version was more user friendly, and we could see similar comments stating that they felt more comfortable supporting this site with bonus weekends instead of subscriptions.
