Probably a daft question, but I've had a good look round and couldn't find the answer. I want to turn a pet hydrus, and it seems these days Merana just randomly turns up on the map sometimes. But, uh, where? Is it where her picture is in the bottom left hand corner and does the map look any different?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm just impatient to turn my pet hydrus before I loose the lockdown mojo to work on it properly and so I don't want to miss Merana.

her image can appear anywhere on the map. She looks like an evil mermaid on top of a waterspout. That link you provided is probably the link you get if you click on her image. It doesn't work if she's not around.

NPC Merana does appear fairly regularly. There is a royal road to the Hydrus curse. If you are in a hurry there's the Miracle Potion. This is expensive.

well that's...deeply dispiriting. I think your thread here was one of the ones I read when I was digging through to try and answer this question myself and I'd assumed you'd be happily skipping through meadows with your hydrus pet by now.

Is she broken? Can anyone chime in with the last time she was sighted?

i've been told she sometimes does take months to show up which....... if that's true that's kinda bad game design ngl ;; wouldn't be surprised if maybe she's broken after the past few site maintenances honestly

Might be worthwhile to report this in Problems & Bugs before the next holiday starts.

I don't see it as a game design problem to make certain colors harder to get. There's the prestige in having your pet cursed Hydrus, since not everyone is patient enough.

definitely sounds like a bug to me. isn't there a merana spotting ping group/thread? i think she used to appear every week or so, with a little bit of random variation, but if no one's reported her appearing in months then that sounds broken - at least, the last time she was MIA for so long, i remember it being a bug that had to be fixed.

There is a forum group for that. Merana spotting. But you might want to join so you'll get a ping if a group member spots her. Not sure how active they are.

I have posted in problems and bugs so we'll see what happens...

There may have been more recent pings if they ping in the General Forum, or Pet forum. Some groups rarely ping in their private forums.

I made a post in problems and bugs and got directed to this post which explains she is indeed broken, but staff will make sure she appears at some point soon.

Merena is glitched? Dang it, and just when I got a good idea for a hydrus pet...

Oh well, I guess I'll go with either my cherry or graveyard pet ideas....

I think this is the 2nd time within 3 years that we had trouble getting hydrus pets....

First was when Merena escaped the Omen Islands.

I'll probably wait until a hydrus pet is put UFA if I need one...

yeah, that's a good option. I have the perfect name for my pet though, so I'm just gonna sit tight. It was Bug that directed me to the older thread I linked above, and he said the issue was 'on his radar', so I'm hoping Merana'll pop up sooner rather than later.

unfortunately i have a specific pet i want to turn hydrus and i'm not about to dish out 750 csc for a name swap so i don't have much choice aside from waiting 😂
