Long story short: 3rd year mature student in university in the UK. My dissertation deadline is literally in a months time, and then a week after that I was due to do 2 exams, and then graduate in July.
Things have gone a bit mental now, haven't they? I'm currently self isolating, but my entire campus closed as of 7pm today (library, labs, everything) anyway, and now we aren't sure what's gonna happen. Ol' Bozza (Britsh PM) says no exams are gonna happen in May/June, but I don't know if that's just for schools/colleges. My uni said they're gonna give us all an update on Friday, but for now all assessments and exams are suspended indefinitely.
Anyone else in the same boat here? What you studying? How's your work going? Have you decided to go home or stay in halls til you have more details?
In my opinion, if it's related to the pandemic, it should be postponed, not cancelled. And no one should be punished for it.
That's not rocket science.
I hope things work out for you and you graduate in time. :c

I'm sort of the same boat as well, except I was supposed to have my convocation/graduation ceremony slated for June/July. I'm not in midst of doing a dissertation or finishing exams, though. That sounds crazy, I'm sorry. :(
Schools in the States have all gone online. I'm not taking classes right now myself, but from what I understand from others, the exams will also be online. I know the UK does exams differently, though. Maybe they will allow you to take a proctored exam?
I know someone who is defending their thesis via Zoom. If you need to do that, it may be an option.
Yeah, it's been postponed, but they obviously can't say until when because nobody knows when this will be over. We're not being punished per say, it just took a long time of no communication for them to get everything sorted! Bit stressful when you're preparing to get your degree!
Yeah it's been officially postponed now, not sure till when! I hope it's still this year. People doing re-sits were going to have a December graduation, so maybe then?
I have 2 classes at the moment but only one of them has gone online. He's a good tutor, and incidentally my dissertation leader too, so I've really appreciated his help. They've replaced my exams with coursework and extended a few deadlines so it's worked out okay since I made this slightly panicked post! Luckily all I have to for dissertation is submit it on time haha.
December? Hmm. I think it's difficult to know or say at this point. As we've seen, the pandemic is affecting countries differently. I'm in Canada, and the last thing my university did was kick everyone out of Residence, giving only 3 days warning (?!?!) I understand that in the USA, it's also different state-to-state like it is here between the territories. The timelines could vary, even if we are all suffering the same paradigm shift. :(
I wish the best for your dissertation and all of your classes! It's so hard to adjust to a new way of living, especially with having deadlines (even extended ones) on top of it. ❤
