Why are so many of these items priced so high and how did they get that high?? For example I'm just confused because can't you just get a bunch of them during the Morostide event?

All year they are a lot of new items , like 120, I guess. And it is not so easy to get them all, and usually most of them you need to win achievements. So yes, I think some of them are rare items.

However, all morostide we can win some old items. So maybe you can get the opportunity to win some of them

The Monster Paw and Cupcake are from 2009, the BatPop is from 2010,

Most of them who have been generated during the events have been eaten, fragged or are on inactive accounts - since it's so long ago, it's possible a bunch of them were on deleted accounts.

I'm a hoarder, therefore at one time or another, I had a ton of those. And if they're that expensive they're higher priced than anything I ever had in my shop. This means there was over the years that much demand for them that all of my cheaper ones are gone, or when shops got limited by size I dumped a bunch (and since some of the ones you mention are from way back when, that's possible) or someone bought all of mine just for the purpose of inflating the cost.

Subeta does have a fuckton of sP floating around, and is using special currencies or site activities to limit the use of sP for aquiring items from the site proper. It's a reasonable thing to do to take all that sP sloshing around and make use of it. After all at those prices, you only have to sell one.

FWIW I have been getting items like these fairly regular from playing the Carnival Games that are currently randomly dropping Morostide items sometimes. The prices will drop.

Because Subeta encourages the hoarding of items. People will hold onto old items because you never know when an achievement might come out that requires them*, or something might be revamped or made wearable or eatable.

*Looking at you,

And for some reason Staff have decided random chance is a better way to distribute old expensive items instead of Trick-or-Treating, or the Crystal Shop, or whatever. Because they just love to keep up artificial scarcity. If you really want the item you have to shell out millions, because that's how much Staff have decided that a random free item is worth. If you look at the old Morostide threads users have been suggesting a release of older items for YEARS yet nothing has been done other than the random chance of maybe getting an old item at the Carnival.

I remember years ago there being a shitstorm by users who wanted things to stay rare and expensive, seeing older items as an investment.

Those users are jerks. Isn't Subeta famous for saying "nothing is ever really retired?" I'm just salty as a cracker.

Subeta simultaneously encourages and punishes hoarding and older users think they're entitled to drive prices of some items up on the sole idea of "They're older items, they should be rare and expensive."

Forgetting that these things tend to drop during Morostide anyways every year because that event isn't solely dropping that year's items.

Everything in a game of pixels is artificial, so it's not a matter of staff loving to make things artificially expensive, There are no real-world economic limits here other than staff cost and server cost and these have nothing to do with items. Park Place and Boardwalk are just printed on a card and cardboard and those aren't real USD, so everything by the definition of what an economic game is, is "made to be that way". One of the reasons Subeta has so many currencies is to make the initial aquistion of things not dependent on economic power but by playing the game. Lots of items are getting re-released. When they get re-released via sP-value as per the Antique Shop, folks will complain every bit as much as they're doing in this thread.

'Random' may not suit som users, but it works pretty well. Whether or not users use the sP they have burning a hole in their pocket to inflate these things? This is not something subeta=the-game is doing personally to you out of cruelty.

I'm an older player nearly thirteen years now, and IMO it's not older players who have this idea that things must stay expensive, it's masochistic refugees from Neopets who thnk this.
