it started out when I found a mothers day card that says "As it's mothers day, mum said if anything needs doing go to sodoffanddoityourself.com" and so for a laugh i brought the domain (£25 isn't a laughing matter but hey!) The site is published but takes 48 hrs for public to be able to access it. I used Wix to host the website since it isn't intended to be a business site / professional site etc.

I just need ideas on what to have on it .

I don't know whether to make it a serious "dummy" site to help with running a house + being an adult or whether to make it joky like;

Things to do for mothers day ​ - Make breakfast in bed. Bring her a cuppa then eat breakfast

• Buy chocolates and flowers...keep the chocolates for yourself and give her the flowers

• Run a hot bath complete with candles and champagne...and enjoy the luxurious soak!

• Book a table to the most fanciest restaurant in town, get mum to dress up in her best frock - glitter and all...then go by yourself.

All ideas welcome!

This sounds exactly like something I'd do if I had the money and time to spare. If you're intending to make it a joke site and don't really foresee it getting that much traffic, I recommend using a pre-paid/pay-as-you-go host instead of a monthly service, such as NearlyFreeSpeech. (I do use this service, but do not get any referral bonuses or anything of the sort, for full disclosure.) The only drawback of this is that you'll need to know how to use an FTP / how to export your Wix-generated site to it, but if the domain you got already came with a bundled web hosting plan, then that's good on you (I do hope you read the fine print, though.)

I like the joke approach because it's light-hearted and it seems to be in the spirit of the original card maker. Have you contacted the maker of the card, though? They might be willing to sponsor it, or something of the sorts.

I already signed up to the monthly service. I think I'll do the site so its sort of jokey but helpful too.

I had the idea of using it for teens and young adults who are preparing to move out & stuff ... basically making it a resource of what I would have loved when I was moving for the first time.

I haven't contacted them actually. Maybe I will down the line?

That's a good idea -- I find that there's a dearth of resources for that sort of thing (not that I've had to search for it per se, since the culture I come from doesn't really have the thing of moving out of the household as soon as you turn 18.)
