I understand that you can train pet stats to 2.5 times its level. So let's say I have a pet at level 8. Its strength should be able to go to 20. But if I autotrain and get 28 sessions, what will happen? Will stat improvement stop at 20? Or will I get the extra stat points from the full autotrain?

You will gain all the extra stats but once the session is over if you wanted to keep training strength, you'd have to raise your level up to the right number to train in strength again.
