I got infected with Lake at around 8 last night, and everything says i'm infected, but the strain isn't showing up on my avatar at all, even in the wardrobe. nvm! i'm so sorry to have made this thread, it just fixed itself!

It won't show up in the wardrobe until it's finished and they unlock it as a skin. The first stage was probably just hidden under your hair, but I can see your little fishy friend by your head now.
