Reached 14 billion today, the extra billion only taking a single month this time, as opposed to the usual 3 months. That crystal shop clearance is a cash machine for me. I just frag like nuts and sell the items for millions. ;D Shame that '# richest user' thing is still broken. Says 3rd, but it lies.

So how did you earn that much? Questing and selling items?

I started off doing just that, yeah, But now I also buy items at less than 1500 sP for non special items and 2000 for special items, which I put in a gallery to hold until the Recycle Beast asks for them, which I then sell for 3500 sP. Those two things average me about 7 million a day. I've also started fragging and selling the crystal shop items, which earned me a lot of sP in the weeks leading up the Crystal shop clearing. Sold several of those Horns and Roses Horns which got me half a billion at least.

It's time consuming, but I like doing it. :3

I've tried to do a similar thing with expensive items that I got from the Free Shop, but so far I haven't had that much success....

For example, I thought monthly collections were popular so I'd be able to sell one easily. Two months after free shop and basically no one has bitten....

oh gosh golly...if you have a 250 Credit Gift Card's worth of CSC to sell, then anyone who wants anything at all in the CS will want it. If you buy a Monthly Collection with that same 250 CSC, then only people who want what's in that particular bag will buy it. And even then all the monthly collections they all come back once a year. If your potential-customers are patient they can get it at cost by buying directly from Subeta instead of you.

Me I buy holiday items and then mark them up, especially if there's a forced-demand for them by the site declaring that mysteriously those particular items are for Achievement. It doesn't seem to matter all that much if stuff gets re-released because I price for a relatively quick sale.

I bought 500MsP-worth of Patry Boxes because it's the Winter season in the MC and it turns out that opening these things so my pets can read the extras is mildly profitable if high risk. Caveat emptor with this one.

I didn't know that monthly collections weren't that popular..... I'd seen them in user shops and thought....wow, no wonder that person has so much sp....

Well, there needs to be demand for it. I'm glad you got it from the Free Shop instead of purchasing it, because like Solsticesprite said, a specific item is pretty niche... Your best bet might be to price it at lower sP than what it would cost to buy the 250 CSC itself. It'd be undercutting your potential max profit, but since you got it for free anyway, maybe?

I mean, I've bought some Crystal shop items that don't seem to be selling really. Which is a shame, but that's the game. Maybe eventually. Expensive items are a waiting game after all... Quick sP is usually a game of luck.... :x

they might have them in their shops for the same reason you do. Or they may have bought more copies of them than they realized they needed and they are cutting their loss. Or they were given them as a Luminaire gift. Or they might have bought them back before the site made a big deal about bringing them back every month instead of only on some Black Fridays.

I want to reinforce what said, FWIW. There's a thing that Subeta users do where it's much more important to them that things have a specific sP value that they've got permanently fixed in their brains and going on in their heads instead of the actual price that folks will pay. Since Monthly Collections do drop in the Free Shop, they're not actually worth some imaginary price that's equivalent to or more than the price the site itself sells them for. What those things that are dropped by the FS are worth is the time and opportunity to be there getting items from the Free Shop plus the value of however much user who wants in now Now NOW!!! will happen to have to wait for that particular month's bag. It is not the same thing as the retail price of the thing, at all.
