I did this once on Subeta years ago and it was a ton of fun. It wound up blowing up and overwhelming me, and I'm sorry I didn't close it off as well as I could have. So, a few lessons learned from that time:

-I'll commit to two weeks periodically and we'll see how it goes. Any dream posted before Jan 8 April 30, I will get to. (-cough- eventually, lol) -It works best if you have a dream that feels significant or is bothering you. Especially once the thread was popular, people would try to think of the most random dream they'd had, curious if it works. And the meaning is probably just... yep, thaaat was random: some kind of flashes of brain activity as your subconscious absorbed the day's data. -I think it would be helpful if you described important feelings throughout the dream. i.e. "I saw my brother (who I usually get along with) taking my things without asking and it made me so mad" -I'm not a psychologist and I'm not necessarily right; I'm just offering to hear out your dream and then give my opinion. -I'd appreciate tips, a gift off my WL or something, simply since it'd make me feel like I could do this instead of questing, etc, spend more time on it. But it's really not important, this is about your dream and how you're feeling, and compensation is a game thing you shouldn't worry too much about. Tipping is not required, I mean, otherwise it'd be a "fee".

If you're interested, just go right ahead and post your dream. Thanks! (also please ping)

Back when I could dream, they had two common themes. Going back to school, or some bizzare sex...sometimes both. I dismissed them as madness, sourced from my then uncontrolled schizophrenia.

Nowadays I I don't dream at all. A trade off to controlled schizophrenia.

Old, and obsolete.

cool idea! Will send you a wishlist gift :)

So, I've kind of had a reoccurring incident happen in two significant dreams. The latest one was last night. The first dream I had to leave suddenly and I grabbed a bag from when I was 16. I'm pretty sure I haven't had that bag in years. I haven't even thought of that bag for years. The second dream it was the same situation--I had to grab things and leave immediately. This time I grabbed a bag I haven't had since college and remember throwing it away because it wore out. I also haven't thought of that bag in a long time.

The first time I had the dream with the long lost bag I was shocked that it was so significant in the dream and I haven't thought about it in so long. The second time it blew mind that I had a similar dream but with a different bag.

What do you think the significance is of the bags?

I feel really terrible. I didn't think there was interest in this and stopped checking the forum after a few days! lmk if you want the item back!

Purses are intensely personal objects; in waking life "I carry my life in here" and that can transfer to dreams. They're one of the symbols that can represent the dreamer themself: an open purse meaning an open personality vs a closed purse meaning feelings of seclusion, that kind of thing. Or the dreamer's life very closely: an empty bag meaning lightness or emptiness, a bag bursting meaning feeling overwhelmed.

The second type of connotation is very pragmatic, with travel and preparation. In both cases you had to leave and pack very suddenly, and I think that's noteworthy.

I think in your dreams they are somewhere in between. To be clear I'm making a big leap here, since we haven't had much back-and-forth. But my gut reaction was that some kind of transition, or even a possible transition, is causing self reflection. Since you have to leave now! then the dream becomes about bags you haven't seen in years. Maybe either a change or a challenge in your life is causing you to think about yourself and your past. You need to take inventory of your life, to know what's important to you and how much you can carry, to prepare for the future.

If my wild guess doesn't sound right, -Did anything in particular stand out about the bags, other than being from your past? -Do you remember why you had to leave? Why so suddenly, and how did that feel?

If you can't remember the answers, we can discuss a more recent dream ^^

Those do sound to me like an uncontrolled response to the mundane. School/sex are sort of everyday topics. I personally (as an adult professional) have dreams that I'm back in school and not gonna graduate whenever I feel out of control of my current life; it sounds like you too are out of school in waking life. Weirdness, randomness, or intensity of dreams can arise from a lot of things, but off-kilter mental chemistry is certainly one of them. Finally, sex is something an undisciplined mind can wander back to.

a bit of a digression on that note: sex is one of 4 or 5 flavors of senseless/upsetting thoughts that people with OCD adopt behavioral obsessions to curtail. I see sexual thoughts, when more random than arousing, as a potential mental tantrum--"don't think about a pink elephant['s penis]" "now I'm thinking about it" "don't" "PENIS" "shut up shut up"--which escalates when the thought is very intrusive/upsetting, and the thinker is very controlling/unable to laugh it off.

Without more details, frequently dreaming about school and bizarre sex--I'm inclined to agree with your emotions and gut instinct: it was a reflection of your general mental state. Seems like your brain is like: "let me be as random as I can be, with a big dollop of anxiety." Unless there was some detail that was consistent or seemed meaningful? Or some powerful emotions?

=== thank you both for giving it a try :3

I'll agree about the mundane part, I tend to dismiss myself as a "boring person". The latter, well...whoever could see that way is more sick than I am.

I think you are right on. I had just recently got married and there were a lot of changes that happened with that which explains a lot of what you are saying. I haven't had a dream like that since so I things must finally be settling in my brain. Thank you very much for the interpretation!!

I don't remember my dreams at all, but I have had a few I do remember (for some odd reason). Are you also into Tarot/Oracle cards?

I normally don't remember my dreams, but I've had a lot I can recall.

I had a dream about a fire (I didn't see it). Then there was a burnt out building. Only a structure remained.

I had another dream about fire. I can't remember if I saw fire in the dream.

This one here is TW: Two weeks ago or so, I had a horrible dream. It was about my dad doing something to me (like, making me touch him with my feet). I tried to get away but I couldn't.

The last dream I had, was about someone I knew dying. I remember someone disrespecting him, so I said "Have some respect. He's dying".

how cool! Congratulations! Glad things have settled down some :)

I don't read tarot but I like having mine read! I've heard you're not supposed to buy your own deck haha. I once found a deck but the cards are boring, like the 5 of swords is just literally 5 swords. lol.

This one could mean a lot of things, depending on your relationship with the person in waking life. Dreaming about your boss dying could mean Jim has cancer and you're worried about him, or he could represent authority and death could represent some other threat and like ultimately you had the dream because your sister mouthed off to your mom or some cops fucked up :) Who is the person to you if you don't mind me asking? Were they disrespected by anyone specific?

fire: Fire has a lot of positive connotations (speaking as an Aries, I mean we're wonderful people.) This sounds more about loss or out-of-control disaster. The building sounds like you made it through some catastrophe but lost some hit-points, it's "burnt out". But since it's not your home, it could be less personal and just something you observe: tbh, I was thinking your dream is a good metaphor for coronavirus. The question is what part of your waking life has you worried.

If you're not going through a particularly stressful period, then the "fire" could be internal, like feeling angry or determined.

TW dream: Victims of trauma, such as sexual assault, often have to deal with it in their dreams later. (The further you get psychologically, the more control and positivity you'll get back in your dream scenarios.) This is another dream that's different depending how literal it is.

If you can't think of any literal event that triggered it, it could have been triggered by some sort of violation, for example someone (not necessarily your dad) made a request in waking life that isn't sexual but made you really uncomfortable. Or anxiety: women are coached to fear rape, and yeah you sometimes have dreams when your brain is practicing "what if I get attacked" that have pretty random origins. But this is your own father, so it seems more specific. Like you can't even trust the people you should be able to count on to protect you.

Overall, there's a lot of anxiety here, especially considering you don't normally remember your dreams. Anything going on? <3 (I'm assuming these are recent dreams? If they're old, then I'm guessing when you're more anxious, you'll have a dream extreme enough to remember.)

The man dying: He just used me to get his rocks off. I was tired of it, so I put an end to it and blocked him on FB. I no longer care about him, how hes doing or his life :) I do creep sometimes ha >.>

@ Fire: A lot of things are bugging me in my waking life. I can't find an apartment and I've been looking for a long time. My current place is a shit hole. I'm worried about friendships and money. (I'm an Aquarius). That dream was long before the Covid-19 outbreak.

@ TW dream: I've been abused as a child and I was raped when I was 22. So, I've dealt with a lot. I can't remember my childhood, but I just remember a few things:

my dad grabbing and squeezing my neck so hard, I saw stars.

my dad would always dig his finger in my lower back to get me to sit up straight

I remember him hitting my brother with the belt buckle once. He even got a wooden dowel to beat him with it, but my mom took it away and she still has it hidden.

I don't remember anything else. I remember nothing, but my grammy said when she used to baby-sit us (she told me this, so I'll tell you in my I perspective) I thought she was going to touch me in the bath, so I closed my legs. She said "No, no. I'm giving you this wash cloth and you can wash yourself". She figured something was going on.

I used to remember all my dreams. They were usually the same thing: running. Now they've been s stupid, so bizarre, that maybe I blocked remembering them?

dying man: Good for you, hun! Myself, there was a year or two where I was vulnerable for so many reasons, and it still stings that I got used over and over because I needed kindness. I grew up a lot and put up with less nonsense every year. So it warms my heart when people oust disrespect, violations, selfishness, or aggression from their lives. It can be difficult, but it's a vital life skill too. I... totally got carried away hahah! Back to your dream: Wow, I would never have expected that answer! Fascinating :) so you defended someone you seem to have major negative feelings toward... It also sounds like he's someone you want to bury and not think about. I consciously said "major negative feelings" so we can inspect if that irked you: do you feel something like, "hmph, I wouldn't say major negative feelings; I'd say no feelings at all"? Because that's the vibe I get from your dream. This guy didn't care about you so now you don't care about him, he's "dead to you". Your subconscious voices hurt/anger towards him and you shut that down harshly, the better to bury him.

fire That's a lot, I'm sorry :( yeah, fires make sense, especially buildings, with the threats to your stability, possessions, shelter. Speaking as a hippie, I still think it's better to have some bad dreams than never dream about what's killing you. You're having a human response to your environment. These dreams are a way to acknowledge(1) and control(2) your feelings, i.e.

  1. your subconscious tells your consciousness its carrying extensive worries around
  2. your conscious tells your subconscious that you are not literally in a burning building. You have challenges right now, yep. But apparently you feel like you are on fire. And you are not on fire. Okay? <3

TW I know memory loss is a PTSD symptom, but wow, that's a degree of memory loss I didn't even realize happens. Do you have symptoms that impair your current quality of life? Are you getting treatment?

In the last year or so the only dreams I vividly remember are dreams of my teeth rotting or falling out of my mouth. It's a little upsetting but also something I fear in real life now I guess. I don't really remember or ever have very many dreams. I've taught myself to sort of lucid dream right as I start to fall asleep but I feel like I still very rarely remember them or have dreams that start on their own. I'd love to know what the teeth dream means but also I'd love suggestions on how to have more dreams or remember my dreams better.
