hi! i've recently started reading about fermented drinks and their probiotic goodness (although i may or may not just want to grow something Cool and Gross looking, shh), i've currently got a couple jars scattered around the house trying to grow scobies, and i have a delivery for water kefir coming in tomorrow.
does anyone else have experience brewing kombucha, kefir, or making other fermented foods / drinks? i'd love to hear, and see pictures if you have them!
When I lived in Oz last year I frequently made my own Kombucha and took a shot of it every morning. Absolutely delicious! Just gotta keep an eye out on the scoby and don't leave it too long or else it grows a life of its own!
did you buy your own scoby or did you make one? i've given up on kombucha, the jars i used to try and grow a scoby are drying in the dishrack now 😂 water kefir seems to be going better.
I'm not a huge fan of water kefir, having never found one that I liked the taste of, but I've made regular kefir in the past and found it to be really wonderful- I got tired of paying through the nose when I wanted some, so I made it myself!
The downside is the nervous thoughts about 'oh no this is fermented MILK'

i tried making my own kombucha but it just went moldy and we've kinda left it in the cupboard for like, a year now so i'm hoping it's dried out by now hahaha honestly homemade kombucha just doesn't taste as good as storebought, at least in my opinion. 😭
