^ this is absolutely incorrect, the forum boxes are only released during a limited period of time, usually during events, there are always news for when they get released and retired

Ahhh for events. Thankies Does anyone remember the actual name and the last event they were out? I looked on subetalodge and couldnt find Forum Box.

iirc people did farm the shit out of them last time though. 😕 To the point where staff had issues keeping the item pool stocked and the site was wheezing.

Considering Amber literally could not keep the prize pool stocked while some groups people were going apeshit mashing the Post button with spam messages, I don't really see forum boxes making a comeback without heavy tweaks. Or at least I hope they won't make a comeback because that was handled really badly.

Yup, this is 100% what happened. They went out during Masq this year and then people spammed the crap out of the event forum to get them. It was really confusing because people were under the assumption as long as it was in the event forum it wasn't considered spamming.

Slowed the site to a crawl and they couldn't keep the pool stocked. Multiple people, myself included, picked up some but were not able to get anything out of them for literally days on end :/

I hope the staff will reconsider a better way to do these and they will come back, but I wouldn't want them back as is because that was just a nightmare. But I don't see that happening any time soon.

They have always been released for a limited time. They were never as huge a problem as last time.

I also remember staff cut the pool item for a week or two, so you couldn't open or get them anymore. After that period they restored the pool so you could open the boxes you had left.

Yes, people really abused them last time (both in the event boards AND private ping group boards). :( But they weren't canceled for that reason, they were distributed until the end of the planned schedule.

This is Help and Questions where new players come for true information. You might not like being told you don't know what you are talking about but letting false information slide is against what this subforum is all about. Me, I like being told I'm wrong here, because it means I won't make the same mistake and give another user with bad information again. .

I don't see them returning anytime soon, which is a shame because when we had them before, it meant we'd get some threads by NPCs to post in and those would be good interactions, but then this year we didn't and I feel like it was a punishment for everyone spamming to get the boxes too much so now I don't think we'll get a chance for that again, unless they limit it to only specific threads they've made, or have some other kind of prizes instead.
