i just got Vanilla Bat Cookies from the Rift-- it's in my inventory as an Account Upgrade, but I can't figure out what it would do. Is it just miscategorized or does this do something super cool?

It is miscategorized, according to this post all the items had their type changed by accident at one point and a lot of the items are still not fixed.

What happens if you use it? Have you tried?

It's just an item that you can feed to your pet. It's not an account upgrade and doesn't do anything special, it's just that some items ended up in the wrong category at some point and they still need to be fixed. The category doesn't really affect the item's usage, it just affects where they show up in your inventory if you have it set to sort by category.
