I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that we need to see more of Dungarde, especially around Morostide. The Luminaire gifting was something that the staff didn't have to do, but they did and I thought it was cool, even though it's not much. It would be nice to see him again, because he was such a cool character - honestly, my favorite character on this website in years.

Just to throw some ideas, he could maybe be a random event during Morostide with him Trick-or-Treating, where we can give him a Morostide event from our inventory (maybe from ToTing and the Pumpkin Patch as well). Hell, just an updated graphic for the new year would be cool on its own.

I wouldn't mind seeing what our homie's been up to! :D I like to imagine that we, the collective player character, would be checking up on him, hanging out, showing him the world through technology and books, as he's also one of my favorite NPCs on the site. But can also understand that adding new things takes time. I also wouldn't want our check-ins to turn into some boring, forced, every event thing either, just for the sake of including him.

For anyone who missed the 2018 event and the first hand knowledge of what it takes to be turned into a Dungarde:

You explain to the Dungarde that Jaxon has granted permission to free it, however he doesn't know where to begin. For some reason, you speak aloud, even though you know the Dungarde can read your mind; perhaps it just feels more normal. You explain that you will first need to know which magic enslaved it, and ask if it has any information

(Dungarde "speaks") You feel a strong sense of pride. "Nothing is hidden from one such as I", it says almost smugly, "This one has been bound by blood': Your mind is suddenly flooded with images and feelings: Faceless humanoid figures circling, speaking a language you cannot understand. Panic washing over you as you try to resist, try to fade from existence, but you are held by some unknown force that sends shocks of pain through your being. Drops of thick red liquid, few at first, then more -enough to dip a brush in. The brush being used to cover the inside of a suit of armor with runes and symbols-

The Dungarde suddenly halts the images, leaving only their memory in your mind, not the fast, intense flashes that had overwhelmed you a moment ago.

(Dungarde "speaks") "This one apologizes most sincerely," it coos, sending a calming energy your way.

Freed from the loop of foreign memories, you notice for the first time that your heart is pounding, your body prickling with a cold sweat. It takes a moment for you to fully separate yourself from what you have just seen, still stinging with phantom pain. You regain your bearings and ask how to break blood magic.

So. Yeah. That. Other than tearing some sentient thing from its existence/home & then forcing it to forever be bound in some terrible corporeal form as your slave by using BLOOD MAGIC... they might make a fun pet. haha.

But, really, they might. And, I suppose that, just because this particular Dungarde was forced into it doesn't necessarily mean that they all are. Maybe some are more like familiars or house elves or whatever and some are ready, willing, and able to help you out, if only you'd let them. Who knows, right? The colors they come in could be fun; I know I'd be keen on having a dark matter themed one, or a steamworks.

I was actually going to make a feedback thread about the lack of JaxIan content this Morostide, but I was going to wait until tomorrow, yet somehow, I forgot all about the Dungarde, now I feel bad.

Anyway, I had a whole draft written out, maybe I'll put it here:

Draft The items released this Morostide have been great and everything, but I'm still underwhelmed that we didn't hear anything about how Jaxon and Ian have been doing since last year's plot. I was hoping one of them would announce Morostide, or failing that, Wave 2, or another new item or something and that would give us some more lore, and I was hoping for at least some mention of them in the descriptions of some of the new items, but we didn't even get that.

I'm sorry, I really don't mean to sound ungrateful over fictional characters, but again, it's underwhelming after how emotional last year's plot was. Also, I was expecting them to get as much attention as Esther and Emma do for Vesnali, it's great that you have WLW representation, but MLM representation is just as important and I'd like to see more of it, and it sort of contradicts what Euclid said about how he thinks they own Morostide.

I understand if the staff were too busy handling other issues, I think I remember when Morostide first started that having some of the NPCs in the forums was hinted at, but then maybe they were too busy to follow through with it. I just hope that maybe it can be made up to us outside of Morostide, I remember they said they were planning on bringing back the quests from last December (Though I probably won't do them if inflation is an issue again) and maybe that will be our chance for some lore development.

Again, I don't mean to seem ungrateful about this year's Morostide, I was just hoping for at least something involving those two. And also maybe hints of a wedding for next year's Morostide. I just thought I'd leave feedback about it so hopefully we can see something in the near future.

It would be good to hear something about how all 3 of them have been doing since last year. There's so much lore potential that could at least be mentioned in some item descriptions.

🙌 Where do I sign up for the "Dungarde is my favorite character on the site in years" club?

I'd like to see more of him every now and then. It doesn't have to be for every event in a row, but something here and there would be interesting. We visited him for Luminaire. Maybe we could check in on him for Fireside? Because Fireside is also the kind of holiday where family gets together for a round of feasting and burning red rreign stuff, and that ol' boy is part of the family as far as I'm concerned.

In that vein, having some tiny bit of lore, writing scrap, or whatnot giving a glimpse into how different NPCs celebrate certain holidays could be really cute and heartwarming. You've shown us what they're terrified of, Subeta (I Never Asked for some of those challenger descriptions, BUT THANKS). Now? I think it'd be cool if you maybe showed us how awkward and dorky and sweet some of them are for holidays. 👀 Or, you know. Kick us in the feels. Both is good.

I'd even be perfectly happy for a little news post from the Dungarde NPC announcing...whatever.

I have a mental image of him all happy in his tomb, hugging all his little gifties from last year. I'm kind of hoping for a Happy Dungarde plushie. :D

I'm hoping that Ian and Jaxon will turn up just to say they are celebrating the first anniversary of Jaxon being resurrected. It would be an important occasion for them. It doesn't need a plot but a news post on this last day of Morostide would be nice. They could also tell us how the Dungarde is getting on.

NPC Jaxon Skelly still is a mass murderer (poison). Now that he is alive he can face justice. We should see them next at his trial.

He got poisoned himself (suicide?), died and then spent who knows how many years materialising at Morostide to let people into the pumpkin patch. There's no evidence that he was able to leave Skelly manor during this time so it must have been like imprisonment.

From what I remember, it was hundreds of years ago, and I think it was implied that he committed suicide out of guilt. I'm sure if he remembers that he'll find a way to atone for it.

Anyway, it was said that the quests would be coming back this year (I'm still worried about the items being bought out fast though), but will the gifting also be happening? They could re-use the prizes from last year so there's enough in circulation since one of them is readable, or they could come up with something else. But I doubt it. It was just a thought.
