Hi y'all, So I've been searching the internet lately for Japanese songs, mainly pop music. What do you recommend me to listen to? Would love to hear your opinions and tips :D

I haven't kept up to date with J-pop. But lately, I've been listening to a lot of Utada Hikaru (particularly Manatsu no Tooriame) and going back to the early 2000s stuff like Planetarium by Otsuka Ai and A Little Pain by Olivia Lufkin.

I haven't been into jpop since the early 2000's, but I was shocked when I saw Arashi is having some big comeback for the Olympics. Of course, I also heard that after that they're going on hiatus/possibly disbanding. They were my bias group back in the day.

Morning Musume reign supreme over all other jpop acts. That's my opinion of course. If looking for particular songs, you can try "Renai Hunter", Utakata Saturday Night" or some of their more recent songs like "Jinsei Blues" or "KOKORO&KARADA", or "Lovepedia".

These girls are so amazing! ♥

I love just about everything by LiSA. I know they've done a ton of anime intros so you might recognize some of the songs!

Definitely check out the Johnny's/Johnny's Jr groups! I especially love Travis Japan, King & Prince, etc., and they're all just lovely. :3

DEFINITELY Supercell and/or Yanagi Nagi! Her old name was Gazelle but when she sung for Supercell it was so beautiful. Songs like Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari, Hero, Utakata Hanabi. Ikimono-gakari is another, YOASOBI for sure!! Kenshi Yonezu has songs like Lemon (and more), and check out Novelbright: https://youtu.be/G1D54WG7Cds?t=41

highly recommend Yoasobi / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3OxgoIdk7U
Novelbright, Kenshi, and if you like some jrock sprinkled in, Stereopony

ARASHI recently did a song written by Bruno Mars called "Whenever You Call". Been a jam of mine lately.

Also been enjoying chelmico's "milk". It's a pretty song. :3

If you’re willing to entertain a J-rock suggestion, Asian Kung Fu Generation is incredible. Sore Dewa Mata Ashita is my favorite song of theirs, and they also wrote the intro song for Erased (titled “Re:Re” and it slaps)

Jpop recommendations... Kalafina, Fripside, Daoko, Aimer, Garnidelia, Da Ice, Yui, Nana Mizuki are all great artists I love (most have anime openings, some are just artists) If you're interested in J-rock then Oneokrock happens to be my favorite band so that'd be my rec (20/20 and onion are my favorite songs, but the beginning is another I know many love as well) <3
