I need to know for reasons. [sub]Defiance and Inheritance want to be the same combo... As do Spoil and Adapt. So, I am trying to decide if I should keep struggling or accept a couple repeats.[/sub]

I have two normal Experiment , a scribble one and a chibi one. I really love that and maybe get another normal one.

i don't even like having pets that have the same base 😂 so like, i wouldn't have a glade and harvest of the same species asdfghjkl

tho i don't mind having colourfills of the same species bc i put custom overlays on them anyway lmao

I don't currently. However, that is mostly because I first started out collecting all of the different Lain colors. Now that I have some fanpets to work on if I ever finish my Lains I would consider the same species/color combo because in that case I pick the color/species based on the character and not the other way around like I do with my Lains.

Currently I don't have any exact species and color repeats, and if I were going to do that I'd have to think really hard about it. About if my current pet might not be better suited as something that came out or had a revamp since I made them, about if I really wanted two pets exactly the same since I have no interest in custom overlays, ect.

In the end it's up to you, though. Repeats might not be such a terrible thing if you plan to get custom overlays or some such to make them stand out from each other visually, you know?

Same color and species? No, I'm afraid I don't have room for that when I ultimately want to have at least one of each color and species.

I do have multiples of my favorite species and multiples of my favorite colors, with some overlap, despite my goals.

But I think even if I had plenty of room, I wouldn't have the exact same color and species in multiple pets, unless they each had a custom overlay - which might defeat the purpose. If I had pets that were "twins" or were in a set, I'd use colors that have the same pose but are a little different, like Spectrum/Blacklight, Harvest/Glade, or any combination of the basic colors. Even if they were "identical" twins, I'd want the differences in personality to come out a little bit in their images.

[Edit]Looking at your small font, I wanted to add: if I had two pets that were exactly the same, I know it would bother me tremendously if they weren't strongly related in some way. So if these pet ideas are from different stories, you might want to consider that angle too.

I would probably not do that, but if they 'want' to be the same, well, go with your heart, there is no rule against it.

I'd get them different overlays though.

I think making them related colours might be a good idea, like Dusk and Dawn, Spectrum and Blacklight, Glade and Harvest...

I have pets with duality storylines (Warne/Leroy, Jair/Thom) but chose to make them the same species with different colours to represent that.

For example Thom is an Angelic Tigrean, whilst Jair is Dark Matter.

It’s just personal preference though, I can’t see why having two pets of the same species/color should be an issue! I just love so many pet combos that I wouldn’t want to have two of the same lol~

I like archan so I have a lot of archan. I can't imagine wanting more than one archan of the same color though since pet slots are limited. The rest of my pets are just whatever color I like of whatever species they are though mostly experiment.

If I ever got one overlay, I'd want -counts pet slots- 75, so I am trying to stick to official art. However, in the case of Spoil and Adapt, I want them both to be torrents but I only like Storm and Glacier, and Storm just wouldn't work for either. In Defiance and Inheritance case, the symbolism of a lion would suit both, but so would Reborn, so they both want to be Reborn Archans.

I am gonna keep thinking about it for now (and hoping that in the mean time they release a color/species combo I like), but I may just end up going with what feels right for the character, even if it means having repeats.

Yep! I have two common Yaherras (although one's going to be Chibi eventually) and I'm about to have two Glacier Legeicas because it fits their characters.

Those are pretty good species/color combos - I can see why you want more than one!

At least if you ever change your mind, it won't be too difficult to change their looks. So I say - if it's what you want, go for it!

I don't like to have 2 identical pets... but if their personalities asked for it, i wouldn't fight it.

For instance, i have a Wyllop, which i don't particularly like, but i have a real life story with a mouse/rat and i had a "free" pet waiting for personality/story/better color combo. so yeah.. i got a pet i generally don't like -_-

They all seem to fit their character ideas pretty darn well so no plans to change them, but if a new pet or color came out that suited them I might think about hanging them. Honestly it doesn’t bother me, eventually they will all have cool profiles and it won’t even be that noticeable.

I don't like having duplicates of pets. I don't really do anything with writing fan stories or whatever, but I like to see find a color that matches their names, and that's kinda the start of something more, right?

I’m thinking about getting a second nightmare noktoa, my boy has a custom overlay that I really love, but I also really love the official site design and it’s so flexible as far as variations go, scary ghostly owls are just cool :)

I currently don't - but, I think if I had two characters that the same species/color was just the perfect fit for, I would be alright with it if they shared a story or I had custom overlays (cries over not being a skilled artist). Otherwise, I don't think I could. I'm too particular and bothered by little things like that xD
