I tried searching this but I also wanted your personal opinion... what is the best way to get more pets?

When I say best for me, is a way that doesn't involve spending CSC too much xD

Currently I have the normal 10 pets, but is there a limit?

'How many pet slots can I have total and where can I get more?'

"Pet slots" is the term we use for the number of pets you're allowed on your account at any given time. You can see the breakdown of your pet slots on your User Dashboard. Everyone starts off with 10 pet slots. You can purchase more slots from the Millionaire Center with sP, which start at 20 million sP and go up by 20 million sP each time you buy another slot. Or you can also purchase more slots from the Cash Shop with cash shop credits at 2000 CSC each. We sometimes give out pet slots as prizes in special events, or in special items, such as the Loyalty Box.

- you're welcome! The Millionaire Center slots are a handy start to increasing your pet slots, as the CSC slots become quite expensive.

The loyalty box is also a nice way to get a free slot (if you decide to choose the pet slot option), once you've been a member here for 2 years - you will get a loyalty box on the exact time and date you joined Subeta :)

sums up the answers pretty nicely, but I'd like to add on the "rarer" opportunities as extra information. ^.^

Every year (after your first) you're a member on Subeta gets you a Loyalty Box(Check the User Dashboard section to check your time as a member and to activate the LB when you've hit the year-mark), and IMO the Pet Slot Totem option you can get from it is the highest-value one; I get it every year.

On top of that, every once in a while (they don't announce it too far in advance, maybe only a few days' notice) they'll do a Quest-a-Thon, which is where all the users on the site get together to do as many quests as possible. If the site reaches the end quest count goal, every participant gets one slot. You only need to contribute at least 1 quest to be a 'participant' during that time. A definite thing to keep an eye out for on the site. I think they only happen up to twice a year though, if that.

They're rarer, but good to know about. ^.^ Otherwise the Millionaire Center and Cash Shop ones are the only ones available. I use one of my shops' profits towards specifically buying CSC cards for cash shop pet slots, tbh. 😭 (69 pets and counting)

I believe there's a limit on the Cash Shop slots... eventually. xD The User Dashboard slot breakdown mentions a Max 45 but there's a separate section at the same time for "pet slot plushies and early totems".. pet slot plushies were the old Cash Shop means of getting new pet slots, I believe, and since I don't recall ever buying any of those they might've gone ahead and put my first 10 pet slot buys there. o.o If that's the case, then the rough max from cash shop slots would be about 55. Surprisingly enough, I've still a ways to go before hitting that ceiling. xP

Yes, it fills up the 10 slots from the early totems and stuff first when you buy Cash Shop slots (if that space wasn't already full) and then it fills up the new Cash Shop slots section. That's why the 10 for the old ones is a soft max, because if you have never bought any before you can only get a max of 10. But if you bought a bunch before they switched to the new system, you could have more than 10, and it won't fill that space up anymore. So I'm not entirely sure what the limit is, since some people may have a lot of old slots, but I think the highest I've seen anyone have is around 100 or so. I know I've seen someone mention they have like 95 pets before, anyway.

I am one of those with a higher limit because I have been on and active for a while so I have been here for I think all the questathons. I have 101 spots and 95 pets at the moment. I know that is slightly past me maybe like at 105 or something? I'll hit 102 spots in March when my anniversary comes up...or more if they add more CSC/Millionaire Center slots.
