Event shop is empty

Is this normal? this is my first event of this kind, the other one I participated was Vesnali and was very different I suppose. I mean I do understand that a lot of people would flock to it, but I highly doubt the items would be entirely sold out within 1 minute of restocking?
I was online when the message popped up so I went to it and by the time I clicked on the event it said "All items restocked in 1 minute" but on the bottom said "oh the shop is empty" Im confused, is this normal?

You can stop doubting it's normal, this is a restock war and the spoils go to the fastest.
Yes, this is normal, especially on the first day and if there's lots of things people want. But restocking at the shop isn't the only way to get these items. You can also do Carl's Quests and receive some random items that way.

you are welcome and good luck! I have been finding a few of the items have keywords in them that other quest grantors have and I'm getting some new ones from them,.
If you have access to the Omen Islands, the Ocean Depths vending machine also pulls from the Freyalise Trading Co as one of its shops. Other vending machines might pull items based on keywords too, but the rest have lower rarity limits I believe, and it'll probably be a much lower chance. For what it's worth, I only got about 6 Keelhauliday items out of 500 vends at Ocean Depths
Other quest givers can hand out Keelhauliday items too though during the holiday, since it's a regular restocking shop (just one that's extra hard to restock from)
This is not a restock war but it is certainly a dash to restock as fast as you can. Unlike other event shops, such as Vesnali, this shop restocks just like normal shops, making it very competitive.
A restock was is an old event where players would join teams and each would restock from various locations. The team with the most accumulated point would win, just like irl comp0etitions.
